    Cycle 4 Starts

The past few days has been quiet on the blog because we managed to get a few days away in the caravan. These days are a great way for us to relax and recharge our batteries ready for the next cycle of fun!

Sal went to the hospital ths morning for her pre-chemo blood test. Her Hickman line wouldn't allow the taking of blood so they had to get it via a vein again. This time they didn't have any problem though and all went well.

So the next cycle has started. It seems to be settling down to...

    Active Surveillance - Prostate Cancer

Anyone got experience or an opinion about Active Surveillance? Would like to hear all comments even if you have no real time experience of it.

The reason being that I  was on the 10.8 Zoladex and a 3 monthly Zometa for over 3 years then after much research I decided to have some time without their drugs.

I have advanced PCa stage 4 gleason 9 (at diagnosis feb 2006)

  • I never expected that
    An emotional day...

I was looking forward to meeting the consultant surgeon, but about 5 minutes before setting off started to get rather nervous. I guess since having the good news last week that scans were clear (no cancer in lungs, liver, etc) that I had been very upbeat and expecting the best possible outcome. Am I actually getting anywhere?!

Well, we've raised the money for me to have treatment in London. Paid the deposit (£10,500), had the tests, now just waiting for test results from the bone marrow biopsy.

MUGA heart scan results were fine.

PET scan results.....not sure if it's good or bad news.........good news is that it's all still above my diaphragm.

Bad news is its pretty much everywhere above it - now spread to my left side :(
