I've just had my third post-radiotherapy quarterly check-up and all seems to be going well, thank goodness.
My latest PSA test results revealed a value of <0.1ug/L which is excellent - so much so that my consultant greeteed me with the words I like to hear, viz "Hello Keith - this is going to be a 'trousers ON' check-up!"
Given that I started off with a Locally Advanced cancer diagnosis, it's been amazing what has been achieved in the past 18 months or so. I really do feel...

Yesterday that doctor told me that my cancer is incurable. Without treatment I have only months to live, with treatment I may last up to 2 years.
My son is only 12. How can I get through this?
Well after yet another sleepless night we made it to the hospital for Bert's Bone Marrow results, pretty much what we expected his Leukaemia is at 5% his Myelodysplasia won't get any better without the Transplant and the Leukaemia will just come back without the Transplant.
So Bone Marrow Transplant here we come, he is booked in provisionally for the 7th Dec so it looks like another festive season in hospital in solitary confinement.
To be honest it all gets a bit more scary from now on...
RIP dad 3rd November 2009 He held me in his arms as a baby. When we were young he constantly had a cine camera or camera in his hands and took numerous photos of us, to record every moment. He filmed my first steps. He laughingly called me “Stool pigeon” when, at 2, I pointed out to mum where he had accidentally cut the dining table with a saw, and then tried to hide it with paint. He nicknamed my sister “Boo Boo” as a baby when she cried. He pushed us on swings tirelessly. He taught me to ride...
In my last blog I mentioned going to back to work, well I am going back to work...next week!! I spoke to a colleague from the salon where I used to work and she said they desperately needed someone else. So I told her I was going to ring Tash today, the salon owner and at 7.30 this morning I got a text saying when you comin back then Thursday, Friday, Saturday?? From Tash!! I went in this morning and had a chat with them and they seem really glad I am going back so that made me feel loads better...
Following a relitavley quiet weekend, John has had his repeat MRI on tuesday. We are now on pins waiting to see the oncologist on friday afternoon for the news. I was hoping that maybe he would ring just to say its all ok, but no, not this time! Am i being paranoid!
Ironically, John has been brilliant this week, but i dont want to get pulled into a false sense of security as last time i thought this and let the guard down we had the terrible blow that the bugger had started growing again, earth...
Hi
Probably shouldn't worry but I found a pea size lump in my arm muscle 4 weeks ago. GP said shouldn't be cancer (wrong place/shape/feel) but with my history of cancer to go back after 3 weeks & see if it's grown - it hadn't. I seem to have felt it so many times I'm surprised there's no bruise. Anyway the gynaecologist saw me for a routine checkup yesterday and said could just wait & see - but he coudn't see it being cancer. If it was worrying me they could take...
It's been a week since Mum died. Just like that, so unexpected.
I'm going to try to make sense of it here.
Mum was doing well, really positive.
She fell, but seemed ok. Have discovered that she couldnt use her legs after that.
Monday
Last Monday she had problems breathing and was taken to A+E. She was responding, sitting in bed, with oxygen. It just seemed like a temporary problem of some kind. We stayed at A+E into the wee small hours, until they decided to keep her in.
Tuesday
Spoke...
Not a 'Belle Jour' at all.
It was helping - this writing a blog business. But it is slightly creepy, this idea that you have, foolishly, trusted people on a site like this, with things you would not have said to anyone you felt did not understand and to ....well, blah, to all that.
Do you know how I really spent the day - after I have picked myself up from the stuff going on here? On the phone, to explain to the GP that to someone with cancer of the oesophageous, who can eat very little...
