beacopp day 7 cycle 2. Just the normal blood test ahead of chemo day 8 tomorrow.
sunday had tickets to watch Ireland v France at millennium stadium. took dad and a couple of uni friends, the original plan was for a lads weekend so had hostel booked 4 bed dorm at YHA. Early train, it is packed 90+% in green. get to the tunnel and then we get stuck, they need to detach and reattach the back 2 carriages (which we are on). 45 mins later and we aren't on the move again, big sigh!
only hour late into...
So the first I knew about Daniel's illness was back in May 2014. We were chatting away as we do and he happened to drop into conversation that he was in hospital. Eh? Bless him, he always downplays it.
He said he was just having some tests and he felt fine . . . blah, blah, blah. Knowing him as I do I called Evie for the real story. She told me that Daniel had had some breathing difficulties investigated back in January and they had found a cyst on his lung. He'd been referred to a consultant...
In the few days after seeing the locum I was using my medication as directed but not really seeing any improvment. I was not worried too much as the gp said if that didnt work he could send me to the local hospital to see ENT who may be able to shine some light on the problem.
That week in November I was off work on holiday, I spent the majority of my time with my friends, we went to the cinema and went out for the night. The following week my sister and I decided to go shopping to the city for the...
It's been a week now since my op. I'd sort of been doing ok, but I feel so absolutely low now.
I found out that the second day after my op my Mum had a fall at home and she got taken into hospital by ambulance (she was let out the next day). She made my brother promise not to tell me as she was concerned about worrying me when I was only just out of hospital myself. My brother lives at home with my Mum and is not well himself - I believe that he has Aspergers syndrome but he has never been...
Decided to write a blog to try and make sense of the last few years.
Mostly it will be me writing about how difficult I am finding it to get back into a 'normal life' and hopefully we will have a laugh and giggle along the way.
So I think that the appropriate place to start is what my life was like before diagnosis.
I had just spent the last three years living and studying in England, having the absolute time of my life. I made such good friends, one of which I am still in contact with now...
Hi all.
I am sitting in bed eating some posh chocolate and drinking coffee. One of my favourite pastimes.
I haven't much to say to be honest, could be because we are in a kind of limbo but felt an update was overdue.
We have had an eventful week here, the twins have both been in hospital having minor operations on their heads. One planned to deal with an excess skin growth and the other unplanned, I think it was a twin thing, he didn't want to feel left out? So....as much as I had hoped...
In the pit of despair that was last week, the temple of peace at the bottom of my garden seemed as remote as the Himalayas.
Then something odd happened last Sunday. I got up and something felt distinctly different but I couldn't put a finger on it. I had a shower and then it dawned on me; I felt well. Not only was I not in pain, I felt positively perky. Monday came and again, I felt, like me. I felt like me! I hadn't felt like this since last year. It was like waking up after an awfully long vivid...
sounds like an episode of GBBO
at the weekend I lost the majority of hair from under my armpits, they are now smooth, think Nic is now jealous.
Monday Nic goes to work and although I had been slowly thinning during ABVD I was probably at 80% of my usual hair volume. I had very thick hair and it had always been thinned out by the barber so to most people the difference was negligible and no doubt many would not have realised. Anyway take a shower and realise that genuine clumps of hair are coming...
Daniel's journey with Stage 4 Ewings Sarcoma started a little over a year ago (well, that he knew of!) Watching the way he and his partner Evie have dealt with this couldn't fail to amaze and inspire. They are both truly remarkable. They've faced this thing head on, never doubting that he will kick this thing into remission and even retaining their sense of tumour! (Daniel's joke, not mine!)
So I decided to start this blog as a testament do Daniel's sheer tenacity, fierce determination...
