it's been 7 hours and 15 days since I was wheeled into surgery for my lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy and what a rollercoaster of pain and emotions I've been on since!
i know it's really common now and so many women have BC and surgery and biopsies, but I never imagined feeling like I'm just another article on a conveyor belt as much as I do right now. Did I miss the part about how much pain to expect, how my emotions would swing like a pendulum from good, to not so good to downright...
Let’s start with this. I have brown hair, brown eyes and cervical cancer. Amongst other many descriptions of me, I am also these two things: –
Before I go on I just want you to know that you can also think these of me and I would understand it. Really, I would. So, think it, digest it, but just don’t say it to me. If there is anything at all I have learnt in the past few weeks is that I don’t need anyone telling me what I already know. But I am stupid and I...
Ooft that was a rough few days. Thought my head might actually and literally explode a few times there, but I made it through with the help of my old friend.... Gin! (Remember to drink responsibly folks, and only over the age of 18 - your choice if that's you or the bottle ;) )
But there was something I was thinking about the last few days, and it's music. Now, don't get me wrong, there's a lot of rubbish out there at the moment, both old and new alike. Then it heads upwards to just ok, ok,...
I received an appointment letter through for 11th April, but I'm surprised because this will be a full four weeks since my surgery. I thought I would find out sooner whether I needed more surgery, if lymph nodes were clear, if the margin had been successfully cleared, if it was going to be chemo and / or radio... so I rang my BC nurse and she said that there were no results yet. Some people say 'no news is good news' but I don't think this is necessarily the case - can anyone else share their...

I joined the groups here that applied to myself, and then when I go to my groups through my profile, it shows them in an alphebetised list with giant green letters for the first of each line. So I have...
So this morning I feel like the world is turning so fast, but I am dizzy in the middle of it all!
Last night I was told daddy has only 8 months if he is lucky and that is brilliant but awful at the same time!

I am not battling cancer.
I am grateful.
I am grateful for the medical team who battle on my behalf.
I am grateful for the scientific research that has led to the treatments available.
I am grateful to the people who volunteer and fundraise to help find ways to treat cancer.
I am not brave.
I am grateful.
I am grateful for my friends who support me, who are able to empathise.
I am grateful for my family and a home that is safe and warm.
I am grateful for the volunteers who support me through the...
I think this is a fairly accurate interpretation of me right now.
As mentioned before I have PCOS - that helps me put on weight and makes it harder for me to lose it, I also have a complete thyroid removal making me technically hypo - which helps you put on weight, and because of the cancer I have a lot of pain and lethargy making me fairly immobile - which means no exercise, which means weight gain. Lose, lose, lose. There is no win scenario in there when it comes to the shape and size of my...
It is nearly 3 weeks since I had the TURBT operation. Ten days ago I received the promised phone call from a Macmillan Nurse giving me the results of the ultrasound and the histology of the tumour tissue that was removed in the operation. The ultrasound was done mainly to check that there were no growths in the kidneys or the ureters (the tube joining the kidneys to the bladder) and that the bladder was fully emptying. I'm pleased to say that the ultrasound found no problem with the kidneys and the...
