Coping with Bladder Cancer

  • BAZZA47

Good afternoon. Ten days ago I had a TURBT under a general. to remove a cancer that the scans and cystoscopy had identified. I had a catheter for five days, during which regular but small drops of blood dripped from the end of what was a very tender penis tip. I’ve taken plenty of clear fluid, but my bladder feels like it’s only partially emptying, which tends to mean I’m having to go little and often. As a result my…

I have been trying for some time to get this blog up to date but have had technical problems.

At my check in May 2019 three tiny tumours were found and were zapped there and then with a diathermy tool (basically burned away). At the next cystoscopy in August I was clear and signed off for 6 months.  At the end of February again there were three tiny tumours which were dealt with by diathermy.  My next cystoscopy will be…

I thought it was about time I brought this blog up to date.

I was originally diagnosed in February 2017.  I had a TURBT operation on 1 March 2017.  All went well with this and, at a follow up Cystoscopy on 6 June 2017 I was clear of cancer.  Sadly at a further cystoscopy on 21 March 2018 a further small growth was found.  A second TURBT was done on 4 April 2018 and again all OK.  At my next cystoscopy on 17 July 2018 several…

I have had my first cystoscopy check this afternoon at 3 months after my operation.  I am very pleased to say that all is well.  You can see the scar from the operation but it looks healthy and there are no signs of further lesions.  Indeed the surgeon who did the operation and also this first check has said I do not need any more checks for 9 months.  Yippee!!

There were quite a few people undergoing cystoscopy this afternoon…
