It is Boxing Day 2017 and I have just had another Christmas with my family - I am extremely lucky! The next few days are taken up with seeing friends - I just hope I keep well and don’t pick up any bugs (so difficult at this time of year) and don’t get too tired (also difficult when you are awake at 12:50 in the morning).
Today is Boxing Day, 5 weeks and one day on from Nat's death. I have been mulling over whether or not to add to her blog, start my own, or just leave it alone. However, there were so many reactions to the "final post" that I recognised that some people may want to know how we have done, so here are definitely final thoughts, in no particular order.
We have had "Nat's Christmas" this year, as a result of it being too close to Christmas to really arrange anything different, and my own...

Two weeks ago now, 8th December, I was lying in ICU having spent 8 hours in OR. When I came round I was happy to hear that they had left me with 20% of my stomach. They had managed to perform the sub total gastrectomy by keyhole surgery which was a huge relief. My surgeon had told me that was the plan but also gave me the spiel about how things could change when they put the camera in for a look. I know that they have to prepare you for the worst.
Next day the surgeon popped by to say that he...
Such a lot has happened since my last blog. The other tests were all clear so we are only dealing with my boob and lymph glands. The consultant did mention that they might do a full lymph node clearance at op time but I suppose we will see how much things have shrunk with the chemo. I got the choice of hospitals for where to get my chemo and went with a tip from one of the nurses who said the chemo unit at St J's was a wee bit comfier. One of the BCNs from there was at the main hospital that...
I had a follow up appointment with my surgeon today. The lump is gone, it was 14mm and clear margins so no more surgery. Confirmed it is grade 3 but not what stage. SNB showed small amount of cancer cells in the sample - could have lymph node clearance or radiology. I was told before that it was ER+ and need hormone therapy but test is being redone. Now being transferred to Oncologist to decide treatment plan. Appointment will be after Christmas. Going a little loopy waiting for decisions...
I have always written a diary, even before my diagnosis and I have continued with it over the last 15 years but this blog is different - my paper diaries can be read by my daughter and my husband after I am no longer with them - they will however never read this blog and that means that I do not have to self edit myself something which I have been known to do in my diary and only since I had my diagnosis.
