    Keeping things normal

Kee wanted to go to school today as she missed her friends yesterday being at the hospital so we let her go in. We obviously phoned in and told the school of our situation, but as she has few symptoms at the moment, I hope she isn't suffering too much. Keeping things normal will hopefully help her, we haven't explained it all properly with her yet, but she knows she is poorly and will have to see the doctors lots.

    Lumpy McLumpyface

The lump that I was assured would vanish after my period is still very much in place, still not moored to anything and still no bigger. Swings and roundabouts on the lumpy news scale really isn't it! I have come to the conclusion that if the lump is cancer and they want to 'whop off a boob' as it were that I'll ask if they'd kindly take the other one while they're at it. This would be good because I'd remain symmetrical in my breastless state, there would be less of me to grow new cancer and it'd...

    Grrrr!! more waiting!

To all you lovely peeps out there waiting to hear what happened at the MDT meeting today, and who are watching my blog – no news, I'm afraid.

Apparently the CT scan was inconclusive – they couldn’t tell which part of the bowel was involved in the fistula, and if they don’t know that, they can’t operate.  I thought Tracy, the lovely nurse who called me, was going to say that they would do an exploratory operation to see what was going on, but no, this time it’s an...

    Obsolete...

    My chest is obsolete,

The B cup mass a cheat,

    The stitching neat,

    A tuck, a pleat,

    Yet halter tops still sweet...

I know it was just meat,

    And cancer's not a treat,

    The boob delete,

    Survive, compete,

    So am I incomplete?

I entered a competition with this poem, the topic was obsolete and whist the feedback was good, I think the angle was not what had been anticipated.

Reconstruction is always a tricky one, it nearly killed me (a closer call than the cancer actually, twice...) -nothing like a...

Sometimes only big dollopy tears will do

Sometimes I think there's nothing else to do but cry and do it hard.

I'm frightened today. It's my own fault for reading the Cancer Research Facebook update about a chap my age who had cancer when he was 15, which he'd found out had come back in February and is now terminal. I donated to his JustGiving page, freaked myself out and then tried to ignore it. My lump is indeed still there (well to be fair it was unlikely to have disappeared in two or three days). I am hoping very much that I just...

Well that wasnt really worth it

i decided to ask my local GP if i could see a therapist , after three years of continual cancer and alot of carrot situations where i have been told by a consultant that this step, whether it be chemo, surgery or radiotherapy, yes ive had them all, will finally knock my pesky cancer on tne head, i thought it was about time, as i have really had enough, and its unfair to let my anger show to my wife as she also been though the mill,

I explained, my reasons to my gp as i needed to express and work...

    What's to be worried about?

We see adverts all the time about prostate and breast cancer awareness but not so much about bowel cancer awareness even though it is one of the biggest killers.  I think people are shy about going to their GP to talk about their toilet habits when really it is no different to talking about any other bodily function.  There really is nothing to be worried about having a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy, both are done painlessly and certainly at my local hospital keeping your dignity.  The worse part I find...

    Shut Down and New Lumpiness

Things have been quite insular in ginger land lately, not least because Hairy had a mini rage at Virgin when their engineer didn't turn up and managed to cancel all our services. It was odd being without internet, TV or phone for a while but I quite enjoyed having to keep myself busy and not attached to a device. Err as you can see I am totally sticking to this way of living now they've turned it all back on.

Things on the Hairy front have been strained. He told me recently that our relationship...

Do i listern to my fears or my doctors?

So here is a question, at the end of January i rolled into the surgeons consultation room, fully expecting him to discuss my forth coming surgery,

instead he informed me it was to be delayed, until maybe the end of april to maximise the surgery in extractin all of my diseased lung tissue, now he a very clever man, and my oncologist agrees with on the basis that they dont wat to open me up to find six weeks later they missed a bit.they make it sound so simple

but my fear is that the nodule will use...

    How to find my blog

I had no idea you could create blogs on Macmillan, otherwise I would have started here! But have started my blog on another website, so thought I'd leave the link.

My boyfriend was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer when our daughter was 7 weeks old. This blog reflects our journey so far from my perspective.
