When people worry they have a brain tumour you might think they are being dramatic and that really they have a headache. I thought brain tumours were rare. Maybe they are - but not rare enough. I can type for England and I can talk about it for England - because Brian is all that is on my mind most seconds of most minutes.
When Brian first became ill with a brain tumour. I found it difficult to find information about the disease or inform myself with other peoples similar experience of this wretched...
Just a quick post.
Really a post on my thoughts at the recent passing of influential people from this awful disease.
I don't know about you but since finding out my terminal diagnosis hearing that a well known person has passed away from Cancer really hits me hard, and lately there have been a few. Today's news about David Bowie and the recent news of Lemmy from Motorhead has made me very thoughtful.
I think we view our 'celebrities' as indestructible so when news like this breaks we inevitably...
So we saw consultant today, I have grade 2 25mm ductal carcinoma and need to have a sentinel lymph node biopsy Tuesday. So decision made to tell dad and my youngest girls tonight as family coming up over the weekend ahead of mums funeral Monday. Dad took the news better than I expected and it was a huge weight lifted from my shoulders knowing i don't need to hide any longer. There were tears of course and lots of hugs but he was amazingly suportive.
my girls were tougher, very tense and scared...
My wife Carol was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in May 2015. At that time we had already booked to go on a cruise in June 2016, we decided not to cancel but to "wait and see". Carol has had surgery and has recently finished chemotherapy so I decided to get some quotes for travel insurance. I am recounting my experience here and trust it will help others to find the right package at the right price.
I made six applications in all, two companies refused to offer cover and the remaining four...
I shared in a private message to all my friends and family - that I have Fast growing Lymphoma Cancer.
words of support through the journey of treatment would help to keep me positive . 90% of people replied to the message but then -silent its made me a bit lonely inside my heart
Hello,
I am sitting in bed eating bacon sandwiches, I figure that my cancer risk from bacon is negated now, plus I like bacon.
Forgive me for not blogging any sooner but we have been busy enjoying Christmas and preparing the new house. Plus to be fair nothing much cancer related has happened to me thankfully. The last thing I wanted was a hospital visit over Christmas, the poor NHS is stretched enough and I wanted to be with my family. This has brought home a new realisation for me about the reality...
well last week was a blur, mum faced breast cancer 7 years ago and won, only to have it return this year, she was told in July that it had returned and spread to liver, lungs and bones...it was terminal and she had approximately 2 months to live. At only 64 it was a blow, but she battled bravely until she finally lost the fight on 21st December. I cherished the last few months with her, spending every day by her bedside, laughing and talking. given mums history I check myself for lumps regularly...
hi thought I'd give a wee update on my husband greg. Greg finished radiotherapy at the end of September and got his C.T 17th December so we ph up this morning to get results but unfortunately the doc said that there has been no significant change to his lymph nodes! I'm quite disappointed as they seemed so sure and positive that it was going to work! Gregs consultant is off due to the festivities so kind of left hanging, one of the nurses going to see if she could find someone for more information...
Daniel is still being treated at the Royal Marsden and after being so devastated that he was going to have to spend his Christmas there, as the big day approaches I am just more and more impressed each day with the place!
When I first heard that Daniel would be having chemo Christmas Day, I did my absolute best to try and plan some elaborate surprises for him to make his day that little bit more special. But I largely hit a brick wall. I found it near on impossible to get ANYONE to help me on the...
My mum wanted to write a blog post - to show people her perspective:
"Seven days after chemotherapy, and at last Ailsa begins to emerge from the darkness of its side effects.
The signs are clear: not so pallid, a small but genuine smile and some
spontaneous conversation about the weekend and Christmas trees. Followed by
some dedicated time on social media and replying to messages. Concentration is
back and interest in the world returns.
This week has been the worst so far. Ailsa, our beautiful...
