    Hair Regrowth
I wondered whether anyone has tried a product called N****n, marketed as a volumiser and regrowth agent/follicle booster suitable for chemo baldies? [I won't print its full name as I'm aware the site rightly takes a dim view of gratuitous advertising, but it's so hideously expensive that I'm sure anybody who has forked out will have its name burned on the bank balance-conscious part of their brains...] Nearly four months post-8 months of chemo, my hair is thin and patchy, and a brief comparative...

    First Appointment
My husband Tom had his 1st appointment with the oncologist at The Queens romford yesterday.I had got myself into a right stew about what they would say to us. When we got there we had aright good laugh with the receptionist when she kept saying toTom" white british are you white british" when he is clearly mixed race, she thought he had been sitting in the sun that was brilliant!! the hospital is new and spotlessly clean and I did'nt have time to put me bum on the waiting room seat before we were...

Living abroad and supporting my mother
My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last October. Following a lumpectomy they discovered secondaries in her liver. I live abroad and have been visiting her as much as I can. She lives alone and has been managing things as best she can. She gets good support from the hospital, but it is hard knowing how much she has to deal with on her own. My children are small and it would be difficult to leave them for longer that a couple of days but I somehow cannot bear the thought that I cannot do more...

Any port in a storm...??? No ! We can use mine!!!!!
It has now been 9 days since treatment 2. This first week turned out to be similar to the first week after the first treatment – but a little less severe. This is probably because I was ready for the various symptoms / aches and pains etc and so took whatever preventative action that I could e.g. drinking more fluids and keeping on top of eating little and often seemed to help reduce the woozy light headed feeling and taking painkillers seemed to keep the headache and aches and pains in check....

    Yeah. All clear
Thank God today is over. No cancer found Yeah. He has to go back to see the surgeon in 4 weeks time to see what the plan is with the adhesions. He said he would try and stretch his gullet while he was down there but couldn't manage it cos it was so narrowed, so over to plan B whatever that is. Also I asked him about the swelling too as this morning it was so bad it was closing his eye. Anyway it is just lymphoedema, (I say 'just' but you know what I mean). We can breathe again. To top it off as well...

    Doom and gloom
Clive ended up in hospital last week from Mon evening to Saturday, his white count was really low and he developed a temperature, so they had to treat him with iv antibiotics. We couldn't believe it as there was no tv's or anything, totally boring! He is seriously glad to be home it was so depressing in there the bloke in the bed next to him died while I was visiting one night, and there is a lot of old people in there some in a bad way, its really not good for your state of mind. Anyway we did get...

Outlook for people with cancer of the gullet
Hi, I'm new to this site having just joined since my mum was diagnosed with Stage 2B oesphegal cancer. Wondering if any one has had any similar experiences to what I will describe and any useful information or words from people would be a great help. She was diagnosed in May and was scheduled for 4 weeks radical radiation which we were told would induce remission from the cancer (not a cure) and prevent further symtpons for a least 3-5 years. In June her symptoms from the cancer all of a sudden...

    First week of Chemo over....
... just 8 more to go! Actually, looking back over the week it hasn't been too bad. Hubby had Chemo last Monday and then on Wednesday he managed to fly to Glasgow on an overnight business trip. He came back on Thursday feeling ok - bit tired - but ok. He is amazing. I have struggled all week to convince him that he needs to rest more but I needn't have worried as by Saturday he was eager himself to have an afternoon nap. I think he's now realized that he has to slow down... He's eating well too...
