    Busy week

Here we are back on the journey with a busy week of three visits to hospital. Oncologist tomorrow, then three days of special urine collection and back on Friday for more blood tests. Next Monday is the next injection. It is a 400 mile round trip each time but we get very good treatment and the car now knows it's way lol.

Overall I think he has been a little better this week but his sugar level are flying all over the place, so that is one to go on the list of things to ask tomorrow. We find...

  • Breast Cancer Stage 1 - A Journey of Trepidation
    Start of my Journey

    20 December 2011

Went to the doctors as I had been having breast pain for a couple of weeks (not hormonal) and thought it was probably cysts again which I suffered from quite badly about 6 years ago.

Lovely male doctor and for once sympathetic to the pain (unusual I know) who put me on urgent to attend the breast clinic at the hospital.

    28 December 2011

Poked and prodded then sent off for a mammogram, ended up having 4 xrays in right breast (maybe alarm bells should have started then but I can...

A story that may resonate with so many others.

A vivid and powerful story with graphics and sculpture, of a patient’s journey. Powerful artwork, combined with a written account and explanation of events leading to the resulting pieces of work. Captured with photography including the venue and audience to give an example of the scale everything involved in its creation and appreciation. In a new on-line gallery.

Wanting to move on but not quite sure where to go or how to get there.

A masterpiece all of it,  A lone traveller with nowhere...

    Hospital Again.

For the last however many days I've been trapped within the walls of the hospital... again. They said I had some sort of infection, but the source couldn't be found - they whacked me on a heap of drugs and things seem to be (slowly) on the mend again. I guess I just got lucky this time.

This hospital trip made me think about the future... I can only imagine that this is what it's going to be like from here on in.  Hospital stay after hospital stay. I felt like I had to get familiar with...

    It's a full-time job

It's a full-time job being me. I feel amazing after a nice swim. A little ruined by inconsiderate breaststrokers choosing to swim in the fast lane. I still cannot understand what goes through a person's head as they deliberately choose to swim at snails pace right in front of someone they know is going to be at least twice as fast swimming crawl. Two people swimming crawl in one lane, three people in the adjacent lane swimming breaststroke and somehow a new breaststroker ends up choosing the fast...

Round Three of chemo starts Monday in my Mesothelioma Fight

As I go into Round three on Monday I do feel scared so I have been busy tidying the house and clearing out my wardrobe, washing everything down to help my Immune System. I hope they can keep the sickness under this time. http://rayandmave.wordpress.com/

A post from Lizzie's daughter to her wonderful support group

    Hi everyone,

This is Lizzie's daughter, Debs, here.

Mum, or Lizzie as you all knew her, sadly passed away on 29th September 2011.  I hope you don't mind me logging in to her account but I know what a fantastic support group you all were for her and I know it really helped her being able to talk to other people going through similar experiences - she drew a lot from being out to share her thoughts and feelings.

As you'll see from her last post, she was doing really well and we were positive...

  • OLD NOTES COPIED FROM FACEBOOK
    Feck - ADDITION ( Sunday 2nd October 2011 )

I am feeling really scared now, and quite ill, probably because I've been told all this. Thoughts are racing, I'l have to give up work at some point, I'm just so sad, I don't want to leave Lara.

Tuesday 4th October 2011 - just got off the 'phone with the nurse from The Christie. She has convinced me that I am not about to drop down dead any minute. She's told me not to do anything rash like leaving work etc. but to carry on like I have been for the past 2 years and think positively...

    Feck ( Friday, September 30, 2011 at 9:33am )

29th September 2011 I went to Christie for my scan results of 14th Sept. I have had 3 months off from chemo.Lymph nodes are stable, no sign of primary anal cancer. However now have it in both lungs. (Was originally suspicious in the right lung.) Largest area is only 1 cm and the rest are millimetres. However, what concerns me is they appeared WHILST having chemo. and the same chemo. is all that is on offer. (Apart from maybe trials, I assume if it doesn't work?) The lungs cannot have rt or be operated...
