    SWEEP
My profile picture is of my ex worker Border Collie 'Sweep' age 11 He has now retired as we sold all the sheep four years ago. I do miss the sheep especially at lambing time - I was frequently found with my hand up a sheep's back end ! I enjoy walking Sweep and he has grown into quite a little character not the vicious sterotype working dog. He was never very good at working - used to get half way up the hill look at me and scratch his head as if to say 'What do you want me to do? and promptly come...

    update
Saw my Consultant yesterday 10 days after surgery. He said that they removed seven nodes four of which had the disease. They found nothing in my breast - I have been told that this is called Occult Breast cancer. I hope and pray they have removed all of it. I have now been referred back to my Oncologist for hormone therapy. My consultant did mention the Oncologist may decide to give me more chemo, and then said though this is unlikely - God I hope not !

    A MASSIVE THANK YOU
I just wanted to pay tribute to you all - when i was dx last May and my oncologist suggested this site you all became a lifeline. Getting through 6 months of chemo was shared with everyone else going through this dreadful phase. When i was terrified of going into hospital last november for the surgery you all rallied round with reassurance that it wasnt so bad, it wasnt. The unknown last bit of radio therapy many said it was a doddle in comparison - it was. When i wanted to ask the most intimate...

    Hospice
My mum was taken into the hospice today. The Macmillan Nurse suggested this as a way of getting her pain under control which has increased more and more just this week and she has really deteriorated in just the last few days. Her morphone was increased and she was also put on liquid morphine too and since then has been hallucinating and really not been with us at all. The hospice seems like a lovely place and the people/nurses are great but so didn't want to leave her there. This might sound...

    GET BETTER DAD
MY DAD WAS MOVED FROM LEICESTER INFIRMARY & INTO GLENFIELDS. HE REALLY WENT DOWNHILL BECAUSE OFF THE DRUGS HE WAS ON & THE SURGEON DECIDED TO OPERATE ON HIM YESTERDAY. MY PARTNER PAUL & I DROVE DOWN EARLY THURSDAY MORNING TO SEE HIM & ALSO BE WITH MUM. WHEN WE GOT THERE HE SEEMED LIKE THE MAN WE NEW BEFORE, HE WAS OUT OF BREATH MOST OF THE TIME BUT COULD TALK ALRIGHT & SMILED SUM OF THE TIME. THEY TOOK HIM AT AROUND 9:15 am & YOU COULD SEE IN HIS EYES HOW SCARED HE WAS. THEN IT WAS THE WAIT....

    need to vent frustration
And so it begins! I start radiation therapy next Wednesday, and I have to do that 5 days a week. and then start chemo next Thursday and that is once a week in 3 hour intervals. I'm scared, but trying to be optimistic. cancer seems to slowly rip away everything you know and strive for. first it took my modesty: (hard to be modest when you need help in the bathroom.) Then went my independence, (on so many levels)next was my social life and my job. my parenting ability and the list goes on! Its so frustrating...

    Going for gold.
First of all thank you for all your wonderful comments on my blog 6 months to live.Whilst I agree with all who said "Don't believe em," and "go for gold" its just a little difficult at the moment as I'm suffering from the side affects of the Radium treatment that they gave me because I responded so well to the Chemo. The cancer wasn't supposed to come back for possibly years, but as with everything that happens to me it decided to come back whilst I was feeling too rotten to fight. Macmillan Nurse...

    What's next?
Our 82 year old mother has declined surgery and chemotherapy. She just wants to go home to be with Jesus with as little pain as possible. She was told she had stage 3c, liver spots, lung fluid but stage 4 would not be declared without surgery. She's not a good candidate for surgery because of other health problems. We are trying to get a time frame of how much time she may have left so all the family can visit. Does anyone have any suggestions?
