    Broken Heart
I have not been on the site for ages, i have had 2 intense months caring for my mum. She died on 9th june at home at 64 and my heart is broken. She suffered terribly. I had no help as she was in denial right up until the day before she died when i had to get the district nurses to see her as she became so ill. She had lung cancer which had spread all over her body totalling 22 lumps or tumors including 7 on her head. She had not eaten for months and when she died she was yellow with a liver...

    Why do hospitals let themsielvesdown?
Well, on Monday my son had his operation to remove an 11cm tumour from his left side. Up until then, him, and myself had had the most efficient, fantastic treatment from Endocrine team, and then pre-admission, the surgical team. We sat waiting in the ITU waiting room, and after 3 and half hours we suddenly saw him being wheeled past in a bed. I don't think that image will ever leave my mind. Anyway, once in ITU, the surgeon's assistant (who had wheeled him up there) disappeared, so eventually, when...

    A poem I wrote yesterday.
Sometimes you need to say something and you can't say it to anyone around you. So I am posting it here. It seems so selfish to be tired. Tomorrow will be a better day. It's been 14 months since my Dad was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. My Boot I don’t want to be around death anymore. I want to run away. The words once so kind Have begun to turn sour. They will snip me again if I stay. There is still more time. I need to spend it enjoying the moments we can. Yet the growing need to be...

    Need Help to Help........
My partners mother has just been diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer which has spread to the intestine. I need Help to Help him.....It has all happened so very fast and the entire family is trying to deal with the sad news as well as trying to understand what this is all about. Aside from trying to understand the cancer and all processes related to the diagnose (tests, scan, biopsies etc.) I am finding it difficult to know whether I am supporting my partner in the best possible way and therefore...

    Sucking Lemons
So, hubby escaped hospital at 5am. We were at home by 5:15am having freshly made juice, toast/Manuka honey. All has gone very well indeed. Lunch on the patio.... half hour mid afternoon nap (mainly because he had not slept at all the previous night)... dinner & even wine! Seems too good to be true. During dinner, he started hiccupping. It's now 9pm and he hasn't stopped. A quick trawl on the internet and lo and behold Cisplatin (one of his chemo drugs) can cause (mainly in men) hiccups during the...

    FEC it!
Monday was the second FEC appointment. As feared following the Friday blood test - the Port didn't work. My luck was in and with heat applied they were able to find another vein and so the treatment went ahead as planned. I'll be going in again next Monday to see if we can get the port working. Failing that we will need to call in the guy that fitted it to see what he might suggest / do. Other than that, washing my hair on Monday made nearly all of it fall out. I shaved the remain bits off...
