    Last chemotherapy session
The week after next my dad has his final session of chemotherapy. He will have had 10 sessions at the highest dose, which started in February. In January he was told if he didn't have the chemo, he had around 3 months to live. Now it is about to end I am terrified. He responded so well to chemo, had no sickness, and not even all his hair fell out, and his PSA is now 38 which is much, much lower than it used to be. But he also has lymphodoema which will come back quickly after the chemo stops and...

    Lazy day due to Luke!
Morning all! I am due to go for blood top up tomorrow - so haemoglobin is about as low as it is allowed to get! Had a good night's sleep apart from the cat wakening me at 4.30am yowling in my ear - don't know what was wrong with her. Got back to sleep okay and had a fairly long lie in until 10 and fnished my library book. Got up and went in the shower but started to feel faint - this was how I presented at the hospital in the first place only to discover I have AML. I managed to get my hair...

Luke has been shut in trunk today!
Today I have been at the hosp getting levels checked and my consultant is pleased at my stability -esp with white cell count and my length of time on this earth may well be a fair bit longer than we at first thought! That's the first bit of good news I've had since I was diagnosed 6 weeks ago. Maybe I had better stop spending so much money! However will still continue to play on it with regards to household chores - husband is turning into Cinderella - today he is cleaning all the brasses and...

Are you sitting comfortably now i'll begin.
15 days ago my world changed. My sweet and gentle 19 year old son had an endoscopy, following 3 weeks of vomitting, and a 3cm stomach ulcer was found. The days that followed have been absolute agony, there was a 'mix-up' with communication and nobody told us that the biopsies showed a malignancy. How the mind runs wild without sufficient information - this has not been helped by the fact that I am a student nurse and rather prone to flights of fancy. We were given an appointment for a CT but no...

    Just joined. Hi everyone.
Hi Everyone, As the title suggests I have just joined the community and this is my first attempt at blogging. Not just here but ever. I have not long been diagnosed with my problem and am quite ill informed as to what I can expect in the future. Not that my consultant is not informative, only that, I expect, he has not got all the evidence he needs to advise me propery. I am not unduly worried but I still find things a bit scary. I have my next consultation on the 19th August when I get the results...

A Lifetime of cancer - Today
Well hubby is back in hospital for his second cycle of this regime ( never thought I would be hearing myself say that 14 yrs ago), which is now having ITs dreaded effects, you know, nausea - vomitting - sore mouth - piles etc etc. The two of us are feeling pretty low at the moment, this is something you never get used to even after seven relapses. It is like having your left arm cut off when you are apart, my brain which is usually quite intelligent suddenly becomes mush and I feel like a little...

To cut or not to cut?
Thought I would get 3 years remission but the tumour is growing again from what looked like a benign polyp in the kidney bed. There is also an enlargement of nodal tissue to 22mm.I am seeing an oncologist this evening and feeling a touch nervous as to the next line of defence. Will update my log tomottow, but meanwhile I am getting on with life . I am grateful for the support from What Now. Great to have someone to unload on. The Chat room is a real boost to moral
