Sometimes its good to hear good news
I am Claires mum and I would just like to share some good news with you. Claire as you may know was diagnosed with cervical cancer a year ago, she had just finished treatment and they picked up another cancer in her thyroid. So 6 months ago she had her thyroid out and had radioactive iodine treatment. At 30 not married losing the chance of having kids this was a terrible blow. Anyway last week she organised a team of 12 and ran the city to surf run in Australia 14km for childrens cancer. She...

    Joy and sadness
John and I got married at the Sue Ryder Hospice at Thorpe hall in Peterborough on Monday August 3rd. It was a beautiful, if somewhat hectic day as it was all arranged very quickly. Sadly, my beloved husband died the following day - John had pleurisy and was unable to continue fighting the cancer. John fought very bravely right until the end and Liam and I and John's family were with him when he died. The funeral was on Friday August 14th - Liam and I are absolutely devastated. . As a family...

    Whatever Next..!
I was diagnosed with Oesophagul Cancer back in May 2009, at the time I was a relatively fit 57 year old professional Project Manager with major defence support organisation. The nature of my work meant I was constantly on the move internationally, and never really considered the personal effects until the tumour reared it's ugly head ! Heartburn was considered part of the 'lifestyle'..! Like most other sufferers, by the time it was diagnosed the tumour was 10cm with a 4cm Hiatus Hernia, so swallowing...

    Things are looking up
Had a good day today. Up at 7, went to work and when I got back hubby and kids had sorted out a barbie for me. Made the most of it and pottered around doing as little as possible. Also went out last night to another barbie, some friends who have been where Nick and I are now. Was quite nice to chat to someone who has "been there, done that" I realise that everyone is different in their approach to this and each person reacts differently to treatment. Managed to avoid looking up on the computer to...
