    Day 26 Bertiebassetts Return Journey

Well it was too good to be true, Today I went out for a couple of hours before going visiting so was about 2 hours later than I would normally go on a Sunday. When I arrived I was asked to wait in the day room as Bert was unwell, It seems he had diarrhoea and vomitting, confusion again along with a high temp unfortunately he woke up vomitting so never made it to the toilet,

He could not remember anything again, thought we had been out on the bus with the nurse, Did not know why he had to go for...

    Home Sweet 'Home'

Home for the next 4 weeks is a condo downtown Rochester, USA. We left St Mary's Hospital after lunch (Andrew ate poached egg and portabello mushroom on toast). It's a cold day (39 degrees at 1pm) but the sun is shining and it feels so good to be going 'home'. The doctors, nurses and staff at St Mary's have been terrific - we are completely overwelmed with the good care and kindness shown by all. The staff on the 7th floor packed us off with sandwiches for tea and bottles of various flavours of LifeWater...

    annoyed

I am so annoyed I have been trying to get onto chat for the last 2 days and it tells me that the site was only temporary and that it has expired.  Is anyone else having this problem and if so do you know how to sort it.  I have tried e-mailing admin but have had no response at all from them.

living with a knott in my stomach - (Mum getting over cancer of larynx)

    I thought I'd write a little,

    it might just help

to get my mummy (and me) through this

    it might just help.

Why do I have this knott in my stomach?

    It never goes away

    worried of what might happen,

    today, tomorrow, any day...

    pretending we are ok,

    We're fine & we're getting through

But when we have those moments alone

    the pretense gets over-thrown

We sit and think as the knott gets bigger

    will this feeling last forever.

    Choice.

Cancer, the dirty little pig that it is, makes old problems IMMENSE.  The old problems are even more difficult to tolerate.  And what is worse, they couldn't be fixed before and NOW they sure as heck can't be fixed.  It's any problem from the days before cancer.  I am getting to the point like Indie Chick...staying away from ALL...not because I am reverse 'nesting' or from depression or preparing for my own death, but because I ask myself, "How much more of the old stuff can I endure?"...

    What a crazy ride!

Background: Prostate cancer, Gleason 7 (4+3, locally advanced, not spread to bones or nodes).

Well, here I am just 6 months after completing my R/T and still taking Casodex and a weekly dose of Tamoxifen.  I sometimes wonder if I'm becoming a hypochondriac because of the plethora of small 'issues' I'm noticing and which seem likely to be side effects of my treatment, but the main thing is that I'm still feeling upbeat about things in general.

I still marvel at this.  I suppose...

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

The postman delivered a mysterious parcel yesterday.  It contained some written instructions and an innocuous looking bottle of clear fluid.  Intrigued, I sat down, poured myself a cup of tea, and set about reading the paperwork.

I'd forgotten that at my last check-up my urologist had told me that he would be referring me to the colorectal sp...
