My dad went to the hospital last Thursday and the consultant was a prat!  He has said that dad is not having any scans and we wait for the cancer to spread.  Thanks for that.  He claims the scans are not necessary - yet it was the scans that identified it had spread in the first place- even saying that they were counter productive - how??  He said dad will know if he has symptoms but then contradicted himself  when I asked if it could spread again anywhere and he said yes kidney cancer is unpredictable...

Big decision pending - any thoughts?

    Hi,

In late October 09 I was diagnosed with cancer, with a large tumour in my rectum.  The first stage was to go into hospital for a colostomy which, whilst unpleasant, has had a beneficial effect on my health as in the run up to the diagnosis going to the loo was either impossible or extremely uncomfortabe.  The next stage was a course of 5 weeks radio therapy and chemotherapy (by tablets) to shrink the tumour.   The resulting scans, which were done last week, proved the tumour to have responded less well...

I do want to say however a huge thankyou to everyone on this site. You have all been absolutely amazing and have been a great source of hope and comfort. It is amazing the kindness complete strangers have extended towards me and for...

Hello I am a 37 year old female with 2 daughters aged 16 and 11.I joined this site last year and have been toying with the idea of writing a blog for a while now.I have been having a rough few weeks so I have finally decided to write it all down just to kind of get it off my chest.

    dry vulva

Side effect of chemo includes dry mucous membranes - can be a problem in tender areas where hair once grew and now no longer does!!  To avoid urinary tract infections drink lots of fluid but Waitrose baby butter also helps to keep outside areas moist, and friction free - no artificial ingredients either. - Just thought this might help someone - happened upon it by accident.

  • Super Dad !
    Consultant tomorrow.....

..........How can I expect poor old Dad be positive when I feel so negative? Obviously he isn't aware I am negative but he must feel negative if I feel negative and I am not ill.  I worry about Mum too - she is anxious for the meeting tomorrow, fearing the worst I think.

Where is this miracle we have been waiting for?
