    Tears of a clown.....

    ……when there’s no-one around.

Quite apt words I suppose. Clowns do cry and so do Bad Fairies.

This blog post has been rambling around my head for a while and after a few “moments” this week I feel I can now put the detail to it and be brave and share. I’m very conscious of the fact that I tend write as I think and most of the time I’m naturally quite cheerful and chirpy. Sometimes though the tears roll.

I’ve always cried, it’s not a new thing. Films...

    My birthday today

It is my birthday today, went to Ireland with Kay to see my dad for the weekend.

    All is well, thank God.

Never have been that keen on birthdays, Now they are more special, hoping for plenty more to come. My consultant says that I will be very unlucky if the cancer returns, hope he is right

a whole lot meds for fighting little cancer

    hi everybody,

I haven't been here for ages.

Just a small update about myself. After almost 2 years with Tamoxifen which is the only anti hormonal medicine for women my age(that and shots or surgery to put the ovaries to sleep), and after trying for a short time a med for post menopausal women, doc said it's about time to move on to chemo. Even though I knew it was the only option, I was so scared when he said it out loud. So now, about 5 weeks after I started the new treatment of chemo...

    Headlines in Daily Mail today

Don't know if any of you have read the Daily Mail today - but for any of you who are suffering from rare forms of cancer, there is an article front page about a lady who has a very similar type of cancer to me - and her fight for Sunitinib, which is one of the only drugs that has proved effective in shrinking endocrine tumours.  I'm aware that Macmillan are running a campaign for rarer cancer sufferers to have fairer access to drugs, and I have added my (very loud) voice by e-mailing all our local...

I DIDN'T EVEN GET A STRAW - SHORT OR OTHERWISE!

Sorry not to have posted for a few days.  A great deal has happened.  I have had m y 5 sessions of Radio Therapy.  No problems at all.  Just waiting for my hair to fall out!!  I can honestly say it wasn't too bad.  Wearing the mask was fine - white mesh one without any holes for mouth or anything but wasn't uncomfortable.

I have seen two more doctors who now say I have tumours in my lungs as well.  I have asked about any treatment - operations etc. and they say nothing would work.  I even have a...

    The dreaded scan!
I have just got back from taking Dad for his scan, they are trying to determine whether the chemo has had any effect, i really hope it has as i'm not convinced dad will want to continue any treatment if this lot has been useless. He appears to be getting worse everyday at the moment, he has a horrible very throaty cough and he struggles to talk as his voice is very hoarse. The tumour under his arm is still there as large as life and doesn't appear to have shrunk at all. What is happening on...

Don't know whether to proceed with Taxotere

Have just finished 3rd cycle of FEC.  Have had bad indigestion problems whilst on it which I have been taking Lansoprazole for, which doesn't cure it completely.  Now been given steroids for next session.  I can't believe the strength I have to take.  I feel steroids I have taken for FEC have already badly affected my stomach and mind (feel depressed and can't sleep when stop after 3 days). Really scared about higher dosage effect.  Have also read that Taxotere can cause permanent hair loss...

    Who do I tell?

I haven't got the blog naming yet so sorry for any deception. I have just oined this in the hope to find someone with similar experiences to me. Last year I lost my grandparents to cancer and i was deeply affected, especially as I was very close to my grandmother, for the past year, my mam has also been battling cancer that started in the kidney and is now affecting her lungs.

I often talk things out with my dad, and he is trying his best to prepare me but all i can think is, i'm going to lose...

  • WLE AND SPILT SKIN GRAFT (CONTAINS PHOTOS OF A GRAPHIC NATURE)
1 WEEK 2 DAYS AFTER SURGERY

TAKEN TODAY AT WALKIN CENTRE... I THINK LOOKS MORE YELLOW BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NORMAL. HOWEVER THE BIG SWELLING IN MY FOOT HAS GONE NOW THANKS TO A VERY TIGHT TUBIGRIP DRESSING (DOUBLE) ... THE NURSE THINKS THE REDNESS AROUND THE EDGES OF THE WOUND MIGHT BE AN ALLERGY TO THE KELTOSTAT ON GOOD SKIN.
