Hi there
My hubby has oesophagus cancer and has a barrage of tests, scans etc, he has had 3 months chemo and we went to see the consultant last week for the results of the CT Scan he had a couple of weeks ago, the consultant says its good news and they can operate in the next couple of weeks, the only down side is they are going to remove the whole of his stomach and the bottom half of the oesophagus, but they are hoping to do it by keyhole so that is a big plus.
We are totally shocked about the...
Good afternoon
Had to go back and have the dressing changed even though i did it myself last night.
We have now ditched the tubigrip as being hinderance rather than help. It has given me a pressure sore which has been dressed seperately.
Wound is looking better and the nurse has given me dressing trays and pretty much everything i need to dress it myself for 1 week. She also recommend showering the whole leg and then dressing it after.
Groin biopsy site is not being dressed anymore and advised...

My loved one has returned home from hospital after pnemonia. He looks so happy that he is home. He is sleeping now after pain relief, so I know that I will find a way to keep him happy.
This morning Sal is feeling good. She slept well and the nausea is under control. She might even face a slice of dry toast for breakfast!
Here temperature is down too. During the night she hit a 36.something for the first time in a week. This mornings was 37.2 so again, normalish. However, we need to be cautious here. The paracetamol she is taking is good at lowering temperature but the underlying infection could still remain. We will know more once she stops the paracetamol. Still, it is very good...
Sal has had a bit of a mixed day. She started the day good but then had more vomiting so they have switched the antibiotic again... to Gentamicin.
She also in back on the Odansetron to help with the sickness. This worked but not 100% so they have given her a subcutaneous infusion over 24 hours of Metoclopramide. It is an anti-sickness med often used for chemo nausea. This is working well at the moment.
The upshot of all this is hat she didn't really want me visiting today so we just texted. If...
Yes peeps its scan time again...its been four months since the last lot and boy its gone by quick. I have a CT Tuesday and MUGA Wednesday. Fingers crossed for good results hey?? Although I have been feeling really well I have been getting very tired and also had a bit of a niggling cough but we'll see. I just find this to be the toughest time to get through. My treatment is a breeze and I am really quite busy on a daily basis I kind of forget I'm ill. Its really only scan time that I think...
On Tuesday I am going away for a holiday and I feel extremely guilty that Steve won't be able to share this with me. Everything that could go wrong has but I know that I am lucky compared to other people and now my step mother in law is very ill in Hospital. I am going away with my sister in law and if anything happens we will have to come back as she understandably wants to support her father.
The house is a tip and I just can't seem to pull it together. Yesterday at work people kept wishing...
Tuesday 20 October 2009. The day I was told I had cancer. The day I stepped on the rollercoaster for the most difficult and draining ride of my life.
I didn't have many symptoms that alerted me to having a serious health problem and to be honest, they could have been easily missed had I been a less diligent person. I was lucky to have a fabulous G.P. who referred me to a Gynaecologist and few weeks later I was having a biopsy. At this point I still didn't think I had cancer; I had my smear two...
January was meant to be my recovery-from-surgery time, as well as my getting-strong-for-radiotherapy time, but seeing as I am so damn difficult, I couldn’t do that could I? I woke up on January 1st after an alcohol-free day before, feeling like I had a hangover. I felt awful and spent most of the day in bed. I was feeling so bad (I had a temp of almost 40oC and a heart rate of over 130bpm) that I called the doctor out the next day, who said it was gastric ‘flu so I just needed to rest etc...
