    I feel so helpless

My Mother had surgery back in april to remove a blockage in Her bowel and it was there the surgeons descovered a tumour.  After the op My Mother developed pneumonia and was rushed to ICU, there she was placed on a ventilator and at one stage it was touch and go. Thankfully she pulled through but then a week later developed fistulas around her surgery scars which are still active now. My mother is sixty six and the most wonderful example of a human being. The complications of surgery have meant her...

You know, I could get snappy :)

On the 16th of July (regular readers will recall) my surgeon's secretary (I call him "my" - I've never met him, and the way things seem to be working I never will) told me that due to various exigencies, happenings, planetary occlusions, acts of God, thermal gradients, and a lack of tomato sauce, I should assume I would get "seen to" (not in the tom-cat sense) on August 9th. This was just her guess really, I mean I heard her sacrifice the cockerel, but possibly that was just a sound-effect, or...

we were told yesturday that we will have less than a year with lil man if we are lucky.

NOW i know what the doctors say is only a guess but it just brings it real. They told us this news yesturday. Because they have had 4 child roughly the same age as lil man with the same type of tumor pass away within a year of the doctors finding the tumors.

I am finding it very hard to stay positive at the moment.

I know they dont always get it right. Once they found out my mum had secondery cancer of the...

The Widow Vibe: why you might want to tidy more than the sock drawer; and the trouble with Monica.

One of the universal truths about human beings – and we are not shy of universal truths here - is that some people are very much better at ‘tidying’ things than others.

When faced with a major change in life (like a terminal diagnosis) some of us will immediately reach for sock drawer and begin the long task of corralling those maverick socks and reuniting them with their long lost partners.    We might then discretely burn the odd embarrassing letter and delete some...

Not been on for 3 weeks due too so much going on ,Where do you start.

Since this all began we have had to keep a very close watch on medication , times its to be taken and how etc and also you watch for changes that can sometimes be missed by a consultant or gp , There have been so many mess  ups with mums med's and we have even had to ask for blood test's and had to ask about mum's Phenytoin level and request that as her levels were low should it be increased and they said yes it did seem low...

    Protocols for Lung Cancer

Hi can anyone from the Carlisle area tell me what the protocol on treating Lung cancer is. My sister said she has been told she has lung cancer but will not get an MRI for another 2 weeks I was under the impression that an MRI was a diagnostic factor in these cases. I would appreciate your input. IF it is true that she has this then 2010 has been a hell of a year for me
