    Feeling tearful

Hi all,  I have to confess I haven't written for a while since my Mum was diagnosed with Non Hodgkinsons two years ago.  We have recently found out she has a second cancer now in her breast so she is going in for surgery on Friday then following up with radiotherapy.  I have to say I am absolutely petrified about the whole thing.  She is incredibly strong but it has also really affected my Dad as all of a sudden there is something in life he has no control over.  I feel really low at the moment as...

    Sunday

Today went pretty well, probably the best day since she came home from the hospice, she dressed herself, used the bathroom, and ate well, she even said she was hungry at one point, which hasn't happened for a long time. In the evening she showered on her own, although she was very tired afterwards. She had morphine and a nebuliser before she went to bed, and slept pretty well, taking morphine at about 3 and a nebuliser when she woke up at 6.

I took a step back yesterday, and let her do things...

Feeling so confused - and I don't understand why????

I was told that my cancer was terminal about 11 months ago.  At that time they told me that I had between 6 months and 2 years to live.  Since then I have had radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and have had a good response.  I had my last chemo in May and have been so well since then that they have not done any further treatment.  A couple of weeks ago the latest scan showed that everything is still good - and I won't need another scan until December.

So why do I feel so desperate?  I keep wanting to...

    Saturday

She got up and showered on her own, although with a watching eye, got a bit frustated dressing, but settled down nicely, had lasagna for lunch (and tea!), had my mother and aunt over while I went out. Restful evening.

Night not so good, nebuliser at 12, morphine at 1 (she did it herself) and again at 3.30. Real problems with bed sores although one side does show a definite improvement. Woke up at about 5, 7 and had some yogurt, and is currently stil asleep (10.30).
