    Living with secondary breast cancer
It is strange to think that I have secondary breast cancer when I haven't had breast cancer for 18 years!  It was such a shock when a painful shoulder, which I thought was caused by a trapped nerve in my neck, was diagnosed as liver mets! Then after other tests they found multiple bone mets and some spots in my lung!  I had been fitter in the last 5 years than I had been for ages. I cycled 60 miles and crossed Dartmoor in one day, to stay with my brother in Newton Abbot in April last year!  I really...

    Metal Tumour markers

Is anyone struggling with Aches in Limbs, tiredness , general feeling of not feeling well this is 11 months after radiotherapy finished. I also saw on mammagram check up lots of metal markers, I had a job to find out what they were but eventually got told that they mark the base of where the tumour was. Has any one found this as well?

    Continuing...

A couple of quite good days, although the nights haven't been too good, waking and being uncomfortable. We've discussed this and decided to use the anxiety/sleeping pill when she goes to bed, and will hopefully allow here to sleep longer, if this does occur she'll move to her chair (with a gel pillow) when she wakes up and let her doze there. At the moment she's taking a lot of morphine at night and none during the day, which I think is making her sleepy during the day. If not we'll think again, it...

Advanced lung cancer - honest advice needed

    Hello

I found out at the weekend my Dad's lung cancer can't be cured and that it has now spread beyond the lung.  It is quite a difficult situation: we were estranged for twelve years (never my or my sister's choice) and the weekend was the first time I had seen him since I was 16.  Secondly, I don't really think he is accepting the prognosis and because of the estrangement, I am not really in a position to start probing too deeply into his prognosis.  If any body has any knowledge...

    Any support appreciated!

This is my first time on one of these boards so hope I am doing it right?! After a heavy bleed in April of this year I was finally diagnosed with Stage 3a CC in May. My planning scan showed an enlarged kidney so I was admitted for a stent to be fitted. Unfortunately it went wrong and instead of coming out the same day, I ended up in hospital for 2.5 weeks! This delayed my treatment but finally started my 5.5 weeks of radio and chemo therapy in June. Reacted quite badly to both as my tumour was so...

  • A problem shared?
    In the begining...

A couple of months ago I was talking to my husband on webcam as he'd dashed back to the UK to be with his parents... his father had been diagnosed with cancer.

I'd been to the doctor with my son... he'd had a knock playing rugby and we wanted to check all was well.  Whilst he was getting dressed I chatted to the doctor... filling time as you do.

"Why can't I drink alcohol? I go red, get very hot and itchy... last time I had one tiny sip and the effect lasted for 3 days"...

    Signing Off I guess

My beloved husband died on 15 August 2010.  He fought like a tiger and we were so proud of him.  The day before he died we got married.  We had a lovely day, he found it quite tiring but I know he had a lovely day and enjoyed seeing our friends and family all together.  The next morning he started to deteriorate very quickly.  We were warned that this could happen but thought it meant over a few days, not 12 hours.

I don't want to dwell on the negatives.  I do want to thank Macmillans on behalf of...

Fearful of the outcome of an operation

Over the past two months, G has become increasingly breathless.  A scan done at Bart's two weeks ago showed fluid building up again in his chest cavity.  Thanfully things move faster in London than in Birmingham.  So, we have accepted the inconvenience and expense of him having the operation to drain the fluid at the London Chest Hospital.

I have tried so hard not to dwell on what this development might mean, but now that we are packed ready to travel down tomorrow, I am so afraid that we are about...

    The waiting game

    Hi all,

Got through the colonoscopy ok with a little help from a general anaesthetic.Consultant wants to see me next week regarding outcome. Problem is he finishes up Friday for holidays and his next surgery isn't for another 4 weeks. Ominous if he calls me in before he stops.Fingers, toes and everything else I can are crossed till I get results. Will be hard till then but I'll think positive till told different.

    Stay good,
