8 weeks today since Dad died.

I Hate Thursdays !! I wake up with a dread now every thursday morning as I know that it signifies another week since my Dad died.

Today was bad. It was my boys school Harvest Festival in the local church today. I should be there really as its the first year all 3 of my boys have been in the same school, they wanted me there especially the youngest. He said this morning, I want you and Dad to be there. I told him that his Dad could'nt go as he was at work but promised that I would go. well, I did...

    Chemo day 1.

Yesterday was my first day of chemo. Very anxious about it as didn't know what to expect. It was all explained very well to me at pre chemo assessment, but sometimes hard to put it into perspective until you have actually been there.

Arrived around 3pm and was met by my lovely chemo nurse. Settled into a nice reclining chair and veins checked. I have the most brilliant veins at the moment so hope they last.

Fluid set up, then given iv anti sickness and steroids. Ok, so far so good. Given 6...

    a bit better

Hubby is showing a tiny bit of improvement, his oxygen levels are getting better and they are gradually going to wean him off the respirator.  Finally got the drain in him today and drained a lot of fluid from his tummy already so by tomorrow he should be much more comfortable.  He is very aware and alert even on the respirator and hoping to get him out of ICU and back into the oncology ward very soon.  Still has loads of fluid in his legs and feet and they tell me that is not going to be helped by...

    My Gail

At the moment my wife and I are awaiting the results of a biopsy taken off Gails liver. Five weeks ago Gail was walking around Liverpool Museum with myself(David) and her daughter Alice. Today I bathed my Gail and had to push her in a wheel chair from her hospital bed to the shower room because she is to weak to walk.Gail has never smoked never drank in the alcholic term, she eats the best diet of any of us in our family and yet for some reason fate has dealt this cruel hand.

    Let me tell you about...

    Two steps backwards

My husband went for a blood test on Monday, he had a slight fall in the morning as his back was giving him such pain that he was collapsing as he walked. His consultant refused to let him go home as he couldn't walk, so he was put in a wheel chair and there he stayed until about 6.

He is sedated and on anti-biotics as he contracted a chest infection even though he didn't go into any shops on Saturday.  I now realise how  easy it is going to be for him to get any form of infection and even more...

    I've refused chemo...

Hi everyone !, Not used to this site yet and never know where to write to....so here goes it gets to someone who can understand ...hopefully.

Diagnosed ayear ago with tumour in my colon. Had right hemi colectomy almost 12 mths ago, followed by discussions re suggested 6mth chemo course which I felt was not worth all the hassle, especially as 17 of 29 lymph nodes were positive. I still feel the same way 12 mths later and have had an enjoyable summer; which I wouldn't have had if I'd agreed to chemo...

    that piano conclusion
The piano had eventually to go back down the staircase, though mother had complicated things a bit by jamming the corner of the piano into the wall so it would not slide down when she let go of it.

Unfortunately her eagerness to belt my brothers backside while he was caught trying to scramble over it had driven this corner of the piano into the plaster of the staircase wall and when she lost her temper with it and gave it a mighty heave the whole of the staircase plaster fell off with it.

    the piano in the stairwell!!.
My mother had few bad habits, but one of her pleasures was to visit the local saleroom

Here she would buy all sorts of objects large and small, there didn’t seem to be any logic in her choice but we were always assured when the horse drawn wagon arrived outside the house that this latest load of acquisitions was much better and in a much better condition than the last lot

Her treasures were always delivered by horse drawn wagon, driven by a man called Jack who was almost as big as his...
