Post 545: Rest day before the oncology appointment.

Nothing to do all day today but rest and watch tv, so that’s what happened.

I wish I could say the new Duloxatine pills were doing something but they need a bit more time and I’ll double the dose on Saturday to see if the full dose is any better. I did get a text from Boots about a new prescription, which can only be the steroid at 0.5mls dose but I’ll await that surprise. But also had a call from a Doctor from the GP surgery that asked me for the doses and checked the new pills I’m having in reference to the hospice and cardiologist recent letters. Wow! That’s after my third triage form filled online about the dose changes, so they do read the forms eventually.

With the advocacy finally over for now I can relax and concentrate on my back. I Have decided to go cold turkey today as I’m not going anywhere or doing anything, I’m just going to feel my body and listen to its pains without the oramorph dulling my head. That’s what I perceive as the biggest problem, the way that the oramorph hits your cognitive ability and doesn’t really kill pain very well, my back pain especially.

So I took it easy and nibbled on biscuits all day.

I have to say that my memory goes with every glug of oramorph because I forgot a few things that happened that I could have mentioned here, in the blog, butt didn’t. Not essentially important stuff to the blog but stuff that happened all the same.

Last Thursday evening my Darling and I went up to see my little bro and his out-laws, mum and dad in law, who we haven’t seen for ages. He, the father in law has helped little bro with a bike restoration of a motorcycle that was inherited from our Dad and has been stood around for twenty five years in dry storage awaiting a time when someone gives it some love. It’s a 250cc bike and the reason little bro it learning to ride and get himself a riders licence to be able to ride it on the road. All this is very exciting and I’ve been wanting to have a look at how things are progressing with the nut and bolt rebuild.

The whole family were very welcoming and I got a real good look at the work done on the bike as well as a great time catching up with their live stories and health before we headed home happy that soon there will be a fantastic bike for little bro to ride.

Little bro is really getting excited now about getting this old bike on the road but as it’s coming up to the winter weather there will be few opportunities to ride even he passes his test and the bike is back ready for the road. We shall wait and see how that wee story goes.

And on Sunday Byron can around as I mentioned but to see our youngest tired and stressed as one would be with only six weeks left to go till there’s a baby’s birth to enjoy it’s the realisation that it’s really happening that hits hard now.

With his paternal time off all December he’s k only got to survive work for another few weeks and as soon as that babies here he’ll be off. I hope his work life sorts out soon with the coworkers that are stressed and stressing him about their work-life balance and so very hard manage from his perspective, but it seems to be as much as he can handle right now and as a parent we can’t help but worry about him.

We realise that his worries will soon be of his own family, how different that is, but also how wonderful too. All the things that are happening in the belly of his darling are the most amazing things ever and are soon to be revealed.

Oh how life has changed since we learned of this babies existence in the beginning of June. How different my life is with another generation to consider and dote on. How things are more positive and furry around the edges now.

I’ve less to worry about with the thought of a new name on the family tree. It’s just incredible now how different that feels for me and what my life’s achievements are. It’s everything to me to have another generation to consider after we are gone. I just wish for the babies genes to be only of the best we can give it, leaving the bad genes to the rubbish bin.

So the visit with our youngest was all to brief but it was lovely to see him and know that we might not see home now till after the baby boy is born.

I guess that’ll mean that another tattoo might be on the cards to celebrate the birth. That’ll be fun.

On that subject, tattoos, my sleeve is calming down beautifully and the word has got out with the photos I’ve sent to family. I think they’re as shocked as I am with my new hobby, being inked. They are understanding but I guess a little shell shocked but saying that, the quality and meaning behind the ones I have is obviously enough to win them over.

It’s my life, my arm and my ink art at the end of the day, but I feel lucky to be doing this to give me something of mine that no one can take away or stop me from having.

I’m loving it.

As for the meeting tomorrow, I hope I can see my health in a new light and a possible new treatment, depending on the circumstances and outcome of the bone scan report on the visual interface. I really need this oncology meeting to be positive and complete.

I had better get some more sleep in between the rain storm bursts of this storm that’s brewing in the west and heading our way. A very autumnal flavour to the weather all of a sudden.

Just ready for Millibobs holiday south.

But, my Darling and I will brighten up their stay with a cheerful hug and chat at a warm and welcoming pub, for sure.

That’ll be the ticket, and something to look forward to next week.

See you soon kids.

So take care, travel safely and sleep soundly.
