I read an article in the mail today about a man who has been given the drug herceptin( usually prescribed for breast cancer ) to help him live longer after being told his cancer is terminal.Has anybody heard of anybody else trying this drug or any health authorities trialing it.
Well yesterday the 8th nov i had my hickman line fitted and i have to say it was as horrible as i had imagined :-(
I asked to be sedated as i was terrified of having a procedure done like this and still being aware of what was going on!! Just a shame the sedatives didnt work!!
I had 2 lots of sedatives at first and told them i felt no different what so ever, i ended up having 5 lots and still it made no difference which really upset me as i wasnt quite numb enough either.... they soon gave me...
Just wanted to point out that in my blog yesterday when I said my onco had phoned me to say the chemo had failed it was because I had asked him to. Some of you were a bit surprised that bad news was given this way but it meant that I only had to wait over the weekend to get results instead of a week when I have my appointment. I know no one know s who he is but I don't want anyone to think he is insensitive.

Its been a very tough weekend, Mum has been extremely sick but was feeling alot brighter yesterday thank God. Its so hard to watch her there that ill. I spend my time thinking of things I wish I'd done with her, the holidays we should have booked, the pictures I wish I'd taken. And isnt it funny how you try and remember all your times together but you go into a panic when you feel you cant remember them all (or is that just me?)
We are meeting with the head doctor today (for the first time...
Well, I've ended up here from following a link on You Tube, it's funny how when surfing the net at this time you end up looking at all sorts but, since my partner has been diagnosed these late night surf sessions have tended to have just one theme.
I guess today I feel a little low, I feel guilty for it too, I do whatever is necessary to make Steve as happy as possible and hide my sadness by busying myself out of sight but he went to bed at 9 tonight so a few hours alone, some thought provoking...
Oh dear,
Seems me and Tamoxifen are not going to get along after all!!!! Making me very weepy, waking me up at night to pee about three to four times with a lovely hot flush thrown in for good measure! Am hoping these things will pass, any suggestions?
Thanks, from a sweaty betty!

Just had a call from my oncologist to say that the chemo has done nothing. I had tumours removed from bowel and liver 18 months ago but had some spread to my lungs. I had chemo before and after surgery which shrunk nothing, a further 3 months of a different drug which resulted in growth, a further 3 months which made me lose my hair but no shrinkage. I will go to see him on Thursday but he says it looks as if we should just monitor it. There may be options but he says after 4 drugs failing we need...
My partner came home from work in Sept 2009 complaining of backache. He was in absolute agony and at the doctors frequently for pain relief. He was told it was siattica which usually resolves after 2 months and didn't warrant a CT scan until after that time frame. In the mean time he went to see a physiotherapist privately which didn't make a spot of difference to the pain. We had to phone 999 twice as the pain was so severe and it was the hospital who then chased his CT scan. I remember...
Well its been a hard weekend, I spent most of Friday crying as Mum is really sick she is still throwing up and I feel helpless in helping her. Spoke to a Doctor and really its a visious circle she has alot of pain for which they are giving her painkillers, which is then causing constipation, which is then causing vomitting. I just dont know what to do for her.
I am just sitting watching my Mum die, in my heart I feel that she wont be well enough ever again to get another session of chemo but I...
