  • My cancer experience and how I feel now
    My Story

When I was 2 1/2, I was diagnosed with a kidney cancer - Wilms Tumor. The doctors immediately removed my kidney which was timely, another day and the tumor would have exploded and there wouldnt have been a chance.

I had 18 months of intese chemotherapy and while I cant remember how I felt at the time, I still think about the experience every day. I feel a deep sadness about it, if I smell a hospital (or hospital toast!) I will immediately gag, and all of my first memories are from in the hospital...

    What are the options ?

My Father has been diagnosed with tumours in both lungs and the Dr has stated it is " none curative " please excuse any spelling .

He has sqamous cell carcinoma and it is at an early stage.

His present illness was discovered as he finished treatment for skin cancer two years ago. This was discovered through a routine X ray and then the CT scan and Biopsy.

We are meeting with the Oncologist and have been informed the option is Aggressive Chemotherapy to keep " it " at bay....

6 months on! Where am i?

Well actually i think i am in a good place right now. New years eve i had my mini melt down, stupidly i felt like i would be leaving dad behind in 2010. This time last year although devastated by his diagnosis we were taking the kids to the zoo, going shopping, choosing fish together for my aquarium. Gosh talking of that when we went to get fish, i remember telling him i want a baby as he grabbed my hand as we crossed the road....he always always did that. Sorry anyway we were making memories and enjoying...

  • I never expected that
    Getting on with life

It's a funny old time round here and I have just spent ages trying to decide what emphasis to put on the title for this blog post. I am a lot better than I was but the bottom wound is still sore (and a few tiny millimetres are still healing). This didn't stop us having some Christmas fun and the girls' excitement about the big day was really sweet. Santa enjoyed the mince pie they left by the fireplace very much thank you!

Unfortunately just after Christmas, I realised that what I had...

Happy New Year (a bit late!)

Well I've made it to 2011 and had a really good Christmas with all of the family and celebrated the New Year with a minature bottle of Jamesons!!. Had a hangover this morning! Watched the London fireworks on TV - quite impressive.

Felt quite good since Xmas apart from the cold I can't shift. Started my new chemo this morning so writing this now before side effects kick in (ever the pessimist).

Radiotherapy on neck seems to have helped a bit so not sore all the time.
    Don't need to comb hair...

    Thanks for kind words

Hi today Im feeling much better and would like to say thankyou to jennifer 52, Sarsfield, Liz g, and alienzel for their kind words. I know think that life without a bladder is going to hopefully be life without cancer, so a bag isnt such a big deal. This site is so much help and I dont know what we would do without it. A very happy and healthy new year to you all. x Rosie0207
