    4 weeks on.....
Tomorrow will be the 4 week anniversary of my dad passing away. I don’t even know if the word anniversary is appropriate because to me, that’s a word for happy celebrations. The past 4 weeks have been the worst of my life and at 17 years old, I’ve never experienced anything like this.  Of course a lot of people don’t experience the death of loved ones until they’re a lot older – lucky them. But after holding my dad’s hand as he passed away in front of us, finding out he had to have...

    Hi Everyone

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry i have not been on here for sometime but  im trying to come to terms with everything that has been thrown my way this past 12 mths. I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis and now have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

I finished my chemo back in sept 2010 no major side effects, i did find that my shins hurt the most and they put it down to the chemo, but now we know its due to the osteoporosis.   All my surgery was completed in january of this year, or so i thought my consultant...

    Horrible Day

Well where to start, we got a call yesterday to attend the clinic today and no reason why so of course we were worried sick.

Today came and we went to clinic and saw Dr Fyfe who said that he is quite happy to go ahead with the R-Chop chemo but he requires to take a Steriod Predisalone (Dont know if thats the correct spelling) to get s his bilirubin level down which is something to do with his liver before he could start his chemotherapy.  Then he went on to say when we asked if this was cureable...

4th chemo done, more than halfway there!

Had 4th chemo done today, not too bad can't believe over halfway through now and can't wait to finish, hasn't been as bad as I thought think the fear of the unknown is worse than actually having the treatment. Obviously the side effects are not great although fingers crossed I have been quite good most of the time. Good luck to anyone else starting or having treatment guess the best we can do is stay positive!

How do you cope when the doctors cannot do any more treatment?

    Hello,

My mum has been fighting cancer for the last 3 years. It started at the bowel, going onto the lung and ending up with two tumours on the brain. My mum is unable to move, cannot go to the toilet by herself, barely eats and sleeps for 23 out of 24 hours a day. I have just been told that she has developed a lump on her neck but doctors will not even do a scan and say that there is notihng more than they can do for her. I live in Brighton and she is in Nottingham with my dad caring...

    reflections on life - prognosis

Having been given no actual prognosis, I find planning any future activities particularly difficult.  I understand of course that we will all react differently and individually to any drug treatment, but is it to much to ask for some general guidline about life expectancy ?  The treatments must be quite similar for Cancer types, mine is Lung Adenocarcinoma stage 1V and secondarary Spinal, both of course incurable.  My treatment is for quality of life using Cisplatin and Permatrex.  I will be on my 4th...
