    Time to Take Stock...
End of Week 5 - well this week has definitely been one to forget, and I take comfort from the fact that those of you who have been through this battle can look back six months down the line and not even remember any of the pain and suffering. If I am honest, last night after being sick I was at my lowest ebb. I did not want any more meds, I didn't want any more food via tube, I didn't want advice from close family on what to do next. I just needed time to give MYSELF a kick up the backside I needed...

    More News

    Well Hello again

I have more news from yesterday the 23rd December, first the Macmillan Nurse telephoned first thing in the morning she was sorry too hear that i was still having pain trouble, and suggested that i up my Morphine and add in some Ibruprophine to help, she also informed me that the reason that my appointment with the Specialist was held up was because the Oncologist is only at my local hospital once a month and i missed her this month she also said that i should talk to my...

    Meet “The David Girls”!

Following on from the last post, these are the results of what happens when you ask 12 ladies to pick their favourite song without selecting one by David Cassidy.  You may notice that a certain person managed to sneak one in. However she is perfectly correct. David may be singing, but the single is credited to The Partridge Family, so no rules have been broken!  Anyway we couldn’t really leave him out could we?   Interesting choices ladies!  Some I was anticipating, but a few were quite a surprise...

Well that idea did not work

    Hello Again all

Well I thought that i had got my pain relief concored  but that has all gone by the way side, i phoned the Doctor yesterday for some help but was told that i could not speak to her untill Monday so now i have too cope with the pain until then, well i suppose i have been managing for a week like this so a few more days will not matter, it all boils down to my own fault and the thoughts of my past relationship breakdown which is why i will not stand up to my wife and tell her...

    Meet The Family!

Some of my family have been selecting their favourite song to go onto a CD for a forthcoming get-together.  So I’m going to let you have a little peek at the results.   And before anyone asks, no I haven’t picked one, I am finding it an impossible task.  My regular readers know D, he’s finally managed to choose and his selection is included.  I’m not going to tell you which one it is at the moment.  We’ve just been having a discussion about the best way to choose your favourite...

20 December Putting the record straight

This is where I am now.  I have advanced, aggressive PCa which has become resistant to the standard drugs; decapeptyl and bicalutamide.  I am to go on to abiraterone next as an informed choice.  Chemo can be given later if I agree and if my condition warrants it.  However agressive my disease may be, I'm assured that it's in my pelvic bones only, not in lymph nodes,  nor liver nor anywhere else.

I had a very helpful and informative meeting with my consultant urologist yesterday.  He's a listener...

    As thick as a P.I.G!

nice sunny day in Wiltshire today but thats where the fun stopped.  Was great to be accompanied to hospital by my son who has taken some snaps which i will upload over weekend.  Only lost 2.5kgs in the week so dietitian reasonably happy.  Picked up prescription for antibiotics (1 week course).  Slept all way home, took round of Meds and then threw them all back up. dont know what is in stomach and what is down loo, throat so sore i am not taking anything else and will try to get some sleep.  Four /fifths...

    Cheering Up Music

I was going to give the music blog a rest until the New Year but I received an email saying it was being missed and a post would be really nice.  The message even had the subject ready for me – music to cheer you up when you’re having a bad day.   So I’ve had a rummage through my collection this morning and I think this track selection might help.  Hopefully my loyal readers will think of a few more suggestions and let me know.

    The Fall Before The Rise...
Just about when I think things can't get any worse, and even though my consultants, nurses and doctors tell me it will get worse things do, and did so in quite a dramatic fashion today (Wed). A good start to the day saw me reunited with my mobile (had left it in car) although only one battery left on him. Got thru salisbury and southampton traffic and arrived on time at hospital. Had number 23 RT session and then the fun started. After being praised for my bloods for last 4 weeks, yesterdays...

    Slow Release Pain Relief
Now 0130hrs and am just waiting for PEG feed to force down a few more millilitres so I can tick another portion off my nutrition list. Switched to long lasting pain relief yesterday evening. Good news is that the tablet offers 12 hours pain relief, therefore in theory that could equal twelve hours unbroken sleep. Bad News is that due to its nature it can only come in tablet form and must be taken orally. Considering I struggled with some cream of chicken soup the other day forcing a tablet down...
