My father was diagnosed with renal cancer last year, and has since has an operation to remove the infected kidney (left). At first we didn't believe the diagnosis because he didn't seem 'sick'. But knowing the risks we (the family) vocalised the risks of not having the surgery to my father, and made him realise that it was his best chance of survival (though he could've died on the table). Thankfully he pulled through the operation, and his remaining kidney was functioning well enough that he didn...
Hi everyone - I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? Finished chemo 7 months ago following colon cancer surgery (stage 2 tumour), lymph nodes clear but some 'veinous incursion', therefore chemo given as 'belt and braces' to hopefully protect me for the future. Was considered 'low risk' and felt confident. However, CT scan has shown a small nodule and node on the site of the surgery, therefore another scan in 3 months to see if it has grown or not. If grown then possibilities...
Stefon has invited those of us who read and enjoyed his blog about a walk in Oare Marshes to chip in with descriptions of our favourite walks. Well, this was music to my ears. I wrote last time of my desire to go and see the bluebells at my secret place, but I was a bit concerned that I don't at present have quite enough energy to get there and back. However, my husband (J) kindly offered to accompany me and to go and get the car when I felt I'd had enough. So today we set off. There was a...

I surprised myself because up until now I have found it so hard to plan anything.Does this mean I am excepting things slowly.. not sure!! 24/33 Monday 28 April 2014: Weight 74.5 kilos. A bit sluggish this morning, trying to get out of the house for 11.00, to arrive one hour before the 13.05 appointment. Needed a shower and shave but it all takes time. Slightly constipated. Needn’t have worried as one of the R/T machines had broken down and everything was 30 minutes behind. Because of this, I waited until I was told before starting to drink water. They only made me wait 35 minutes after drinking before calling me through, which was...
My husband has started erlotinib two weeks ago (diagnosis = NSCLC advanced stage, spread to lymph nodes, vertebra and two ribs + small tumour in brain). Whilst the cough has more or less disappeared, he has a rash on his whole head. He is also getting very tired and has acquired a bitter taste for many foods, which is making eating less palatable. Has anyone else experienced the change of taste? Is anyone on erlotinib happy to exchange their experience with us for mutual support?
