    5 years on!

It is now January 2023 and almost 5 years since my mx. I am ‘still’ waiting for the contralateral mx and reconstruction, thanks to delays caused by Covid. I feel normal again. I am trying to be normal again, but fear eats away at every waking moment and often creeps into my sleep too. I have spinal degradation, brought on by the treatment, which makes it painful to do anything, even walk, but I’m alive. I worry about how long for though. I am renovating my house and often wonder if I will see it...

    Getting Used to Dying
I don't know if anyone will even read this but I think it helps to spell it out. I have just spent 7 months on huge doses of steroids and a gazillion other drugs to counter the side effects after I was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome in May 202...

    Half way
Chemo cycle 4 started on Monday. Technically I am half way through the chemo as there should be 6 cycles. However this is not going up a hill until you are half way then back down the other side. It is more going up the hill and turning the corner to...

    Waiting for results
I rang the hospital today to see if my biopsy results had come back. They hadn’t so another day of being on edge. I know vulva cancer is rare and it normally affects older women but I’m still scared I have it. I keep thinking about the le...

    Recovery - 4 weeks on
Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since my last piece of planned treatment, and co-incidentally the anniversary of the mammogram that started it all off. I have had a wide area excision and sentinel node biopsy, 4 rounds of EC chemo, 12 weeks of Paclitaxel, 5...

    18) 5 days post 3rd Paclitaxel
This round of Paclitaxel seems easier so far than the previous two (which apart from being light head, having sore fingers & weird feeling in toes were not too bad)   I am pleasantly surprised as I understood it would get more intense the f...

A catch up post - 8 years now

Thought it was worth popping back to Update again.

I'm over 8 years since treatment but still being seen every 6 months because of the osteoradionecrosis in the lower left jaw where the radio therapy was targeted. The tooth that was wobbly got loose and looser over the time since I last posted and came out in the autumn last year.  That was followed by a small piece of dead bone. The hole it left seems clean now and and has partially covered its self but is still a hole.

    It doesn't look as bad...
