Hi All, My name is Katrina and I'm 34yrs old, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer grade 1 two weeks ago, a total shock as i had no symptoms and it was only discovered during fertility testing, I had an MRI last week which has shown that it has not spread, and my case has been discussed at the MDT meeting so just waiting on some treatment options, I've also had some bloods tests done to check for lynch syndrome due to my age and my family history, My gynecologist has said that there's a chance they may consider conservative treatment as i don't have any children, however I'm nervous about this option in case it doesn't work and the cancer gets worse and i put my life at risk, and also nervous about rushing into a hysterectomy, has anyone gone through a similar situation and what has the outcome been for you?

Hi Kamca!

Im not really in the same position as you, I have endometrial hyperplasia which is thickening of the womb lining which if left untreated can potentially turn into cancer. My treatment is progesterone at the moment I take pills but on June 1st im having the mirena coil fitted which releases progesterone directly into the lining to keep it thin. This may be the kind of treatment they are talking about to preserve your fertility. Lass is an absolute fountain of knowledge and will be able to tell you more about it, she is amazing :)

Did you have any irregular bleeding at all? or do you suffer with PCOS?

Hi Kamca,

I was in the same situation as you a few years ago. I was diagnosed when going through fertility testing as had no symptoms what so ever so was a complete shock. They wanted to do a complete hysterectomy but we wanted children so started provera tablets. My dose changed over the year and I needed 3 monthly biopsies. After a year and a half it had suppressed the cancer and was told we could start fertility treatment. Then Covid happened and everything was stopped. I’m still taking tablets and hoping they are still working as no one has checked since Oct. x

Hi Nat,

Thanks for your reply, no irregular bleeding or PCOS so totally unexpected, I went through some treatment options with the consultant the other day, and they said there's a chance that there may be higher grades of cancer present so the conservative route would be high risk, so I've decided to go with the hysterectomy, so hopefully won't be waiting too long on the surgery.

Thanks for the reply, they've just informed me that there may be higher grades of cancer present so the conservative route is high risk so decided on the hysterectomy. Hope your not waiting too long on your fertility treatment, and wish you the very best of luck with everything
