outgrowths

Hi All,

I'm 61 and I've just been diagnosed with Endometrial cancer after a hysteroscopy.

Anyone else have similar findings as these please. They said I had multiple outgrowths in my cervix . Doctor couldn't get through to my uterus and did a biopsy of one of the polyps.

Apart from the odd spotting I've had no other symptoms and feel very well in myself. I'm having an MRI next week to see if its spread. Feels a bit unreal at the moment. Thanks for any advice or similar experiences  with multiple outgrowths x

  • Hi

    Welcome to the Womb group.

I am sorry to hear that you have had a diagnosis of endometrial cancer and that there are also multiple polyps on your cervix.

For many ladies a little spotting or bleeding can be the first sign of trouble and this can happen whilst you feel fairly well.

An MRI (or CT) is the normal next step to stage the cancer and once that has been done the results are put before a multidisciplinary team and a treatment plan is decided upon. For most ladies- where it is medically possible- a hysterectomy is offered as the first line in treatment.

The hysterectomy would normally include the cervix so that will remove any polyps that are there.

It can feel a bit unreal to begin with and many ladies experience a range of emotions- all of which are normal. I know for me once I had all the testing complete and a treatment plan in place, things felt a bit easier.

My hysterectomy was done a month after my bleed and was done via keyhole. I had little pain, was in hospital for one night and recovered well. Post op results recommended chemotherapy and external radiotherapy and I completed these almost 3 years ago.

I will pop a link to some info that you may find helpful.

I wish you well for your MRI next week and hope that you will soon have a treatment plan in place. In the meantime if there is anything you need, please do ask.
