Need to talk to someone going through the same! (Endometrial Hyperplasia)

I've been diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia with cancer mid 2023. Since then it's been such a painful journey literally and figuratively! I am still having persistent endometrial hyperplasia. I'm 35 and don't have kids, it's a bit surreal to come to terms that it might never happen for me. And I can't cope with living like this forever. Is anyone else going through the same?

  • Hi

    Welcome to the Womb group.

I am sorry to hear that you had a diagnosis of hyperplasia and cancer in 2023.

It sounds like you have had a difficult time. I can understand that being a younger age fertility is also a factor. Many ladies on here tend to be a bit older than you (50 plus) because that is the age when womb cancer tends to be more common. However we have had younger ladies on here and hopefully someway in a similar situation will see your post soon.

In the meantime, if it would help to talk to someone, I can recommend giving the support line a call. They are there from 8am-8pm daily.

  • Hi, you don't day what treatment, if any that you've had. For example, do you have the coil or Provera?

  • Currently on provera 400mg 2x a day and mirena. Which has been really tough!!!

  • I was diagnosed with both hyperplasia and grade 1 stage 1 EC but have been given the all-clear recently! it was tough too. Lots of side effects for over a year, bleeding for the first 4 months to thin the womb lining and hot flushes!

A few weeks ago my Consultant called me to say that there was now no sign of cancer - and that the hyperplasia was all gone too! I am now on 6-monthly checks/monitoring with the view that IF the next checks come back all clear I can be considered for coil removal and self reporting thereafter.

The caveat to this is though that I lose more weight and provide proof that my diabetes has gone into remission - as they are both risk factors. I am working towards it and it's hard. The diet/exercise is no picnic but I am determined. I wish you well on your journey...

  • Hi,

I wanted to reply to this as I am in a similar position to you at the moment and I’m so sorry to hear what you are going through.

I was diagnosed 2 days ago with severe pre cancer and a possible cancer already being present (awaiting an urgent MRI for this) and it’s a very difficult time.

I have found a lot of ladies on here with similar but at an older age than myself. I am close to your age at 34 so I thought we could provide some support to one another.

Have you been on any hormonal treatment? I have been recommended the coil but awaiting the MRI results first.

    Take care, Frankie x

  • Yes! I have been on mirena and hormonal treatment. It's been years at this point. It's an incredibly isolating thing and I would love a support to even just talk about this!

  • I am happy to talk, I am faced with a decision to either have a full hysterectomy as my cells are advanced or have a coil. I’m waiting to see if invasive cancer is present from an MEI.

My husband and I want children so it’s a difficult decision to make.

I can imagine it has been isolating. I already feel in a lonely place and it’s only been a couple of days. I have support of family but I feel as though only I know how it feels to receive the news and go through it. So it still feels lonely.

Dis you find there were side effects from the hormone treatment? That is another thing that concerns me.

    Frankie

  • I am a lot older than you but I didn't find the coil that bad once it settled in. There were hot flushes, mood swings and of course bleeding on and off for a few months whilst the womb lining was thinning down but apart from that I hardly know it's there these days! Things generally do settle down but of course everyone's experience is different. It's an issue you must discuss with your team to see what suits. Good luck.
