Op scheduled for Sunday at The Royal Marsden.   Very nervous but it’s another step closer to health xx

  • Hello, just want to wish you well for your op. It’s a very nerve wracking time in the run up to the op (I remember it well). You’ll find lots of help and support here and I’m sure folk will pop in soon with hints and tips to get you through the next few weeks. My top tips would be take each day at a time and try not to second guess anything. Take care and please let us know how things go x

Thank you.  I’m trying to relax and am pleased to be having it done but also getting increasingly nervous.  X

  • Hi Anxious

This is a very worrying time; you’re heading into the unknown for a major op where you’re putting yourself in other peoples hands while still in shock from a diagnosis.

Its terrifying but you can take heart that so many ladies on this site say it wasn’t as bad as they thought- myself included.

i resorted to anxiety medication as my blood pressure kept going too high during appointments. Maybe some CALMS could help you?

You will be in good hands, after all the surgeons and medical staff do this every day for a living.

Concentrate on putting a bag together with things you will need and maybe have a meal out tonight if you feel up to it? You might need earphones to use hospital TV for example and don’t forget a phone charger.

Do some practical things: Have a walk around your home and make sure there are no trip hazards, Prepare for a short ‘invalid’ phase; dig out that hot water bottle and loose fluffy pyjamas.

Put your determined head on. This is a necessary evil you have to go through and once you get there you will be looked after and you will have time to settle yourself and chat to other ladies in the same boat.

Good luck we’re all rooting for you

    xxxxxxx

Thank you - all great suggestions.

You’re right of course - the doctors and nurses do this operation every day.

I’ll try to calm down xxx
