  • 5 weeks post op and mostly OK. I had extra antibiotics as a precaution so took the stuff to help me for few days. Not totally back to normal yet but not too bad.

I'm 5 weeks post op and still need to take lactolose and sometimes senokot as I'm quite constipated despite a good diet.

  • Hi Jackie,

My bowel took a while to settle after surgery, my doctor said I had IBS, but I never had it before my op. I've found that if I have weetabix with banana every day for breakfast that stops things being loose. When I'm constipated prune juice works really well for that. It got better with time too.

I hope it improves soon for you

    lots of love

    xxx

    Hi Jackie,

I had fibroids removed decades ago and still remember waiting for the bowels to get back to normal was the most memorable bit of the recovery.

This time, with the hysterectomy,  I took it for granted that the bowels would take a while to get back to normal,  and I was right. I think bowels dont like people chopping bits about near their territory. I suppose too, they do some shifting about to fill the extra space, which seems to affect their performance.

It does get back to normal after a while. X
