Am I Worrying for Nothing
I have some lymphedema on my left leg lower leg plus around tummy plus I am in a bit of pain
I have had a radical left vulvatomy plus sentinel nodes removed then lymph nodes removed, they found microscopic particles in the lymph nodes had 1st surgery January 2018 followed in April then June got a abscess in the groin
I saw my GP & she looked at my leg ask about top of the leg so showed her & she then asked me to get on the couch which she then examined me
She asked when I last had a scan which I said not since either when I was diagnosed or the day I had my 1st surgery
She said she will write to the Gynologist about me getting a MRI Scan
So am I Worrying for Nothing that she didn't just arranged for me to have the MRI Scan or is this the way they do it
Best Wishes
I'm afraid I can't answer your question about why your GP is writing to your gynaecologist to arrange an MRI scan rather than just ordering one themselves. I don't know if this is the normal protocol or not but would suggest you get back in touch with your GP to ask them this question and explain that you are worried about how the MRI is being arranged.
When you have a minute it would be useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Was the GP able to explain everything Searchfamilies?
Not spoke to the GP since my visit where she referring to the Gynologist
But have heard from the Macmillan cancer support nurses at the hospital where I had my surgery & she is referring me to a lymphedema clinic should be a few weeks before I hear but at least something is being done there is only one in the County

Sorry Searchfamilies I thought when you said you'd "done this" you meant you'd spoken to your GP.
Glad to hear that you're getting a referral to the lymphoedema clinic though.
Let me know how you get on

I had gone to the GP because of the swelling she looked at my leg ask to see top of the leg plus then on the couch looked below, It was only then she asked about when I last had a scan
I am not sure sure why said that she will refer me to gynologist to see about the MRI Scan
As she not there all the time can't ask her I hope to phone on Monday
I phoned the doctors & spoke to the receptionist she looked it up as the doctor wasn't in today
Anyway she said that she was asking the consultant advice if I should have a MRI Scan & about bring forward my follow up appointment
I am not worrying like I was now it's wait for this & my lymphedema appointments
I'm glad to hear that you're feeling less worried Searchfamilies now that you know that your GP has written to your consultant asking for their advice.
I hope your appointment at the lymphoedema clinic goes well
