I had the removal of some VIN3 cells that turned cancerous on 5th January 26.
Im feeling better than I was, but I have this strange feeling of soarness in my vulva, im hoping it just the vulva going through recovery stage.
Yet im worried, it might be a infection or there is more vin3 to be removed??
I dnt know. Im just hoping I will be ok. Im taking paracetamol, sitz bath once a day. Im really hoping things will settle.
I do have a small amount of discharge which is yellow/ brown in colour, but im thinking it could be part of the healing process.
It's nearly 2weeks since my operation, so im trying to be hopeful, that these symptoms are part of the healing process.
On a good note, my AIN3 is gone, im clear from that. Next check up in 6mths. Whoop
Hi Blondi
My name is Steph and I’m part of the team who look after the Online Community here at Macmillan. I'm just popping in to bump your post so that members might see it and offer you some support.
I was sorry to read that you've been diagnosed with vulval cancer and have some concerns about your healing following surgery. You don't need to wait until your next appointment if you have worries about soreness and discharge. You may have been given a telephone number to contact a nurse at the hospital, or reach out to your GP.
Macmillan's pages on finishing cancer treatment has some advice around who is there to support you.
I'd also encourage you to reach out to the nurses on our Support Line to talk things through. They don't have access to your medical records, but they can answer questions and support you. Our Support Line teams are available 7 days a week, 8am-8pm on freephone 0808 808 00 00, email or live webchat.
Cancer Research UK share this information about what to expect after vulval cancer surgery which might be helpful for you to have a read though.
Do keep posting in the forums and let us know how you get on. We're here for you for as long as you need us.
Please do let us know if you have any questions or need further support with anything at all. I hope the Community helps to show you that you don’t have to go through this alone.
Kind Regards
Hi Blondi,
I had vulva cancer and had a WLE, I would get that discharge checked out as it could be an infection, I was given a support nurse at the hospital if you have one give them a ring as they are brilliant.
After my op I was advised every time I went to the bathroom to use the shower head and let the water cleanse the area, then pat dry. The hospital had some very absorbent tissues and I found them brilliant as they absorbed all the moisture. I did this for 6 weeks until I went for my results and please to say I had no infections. I was lucky as well I did not have any soreness and stopped the pain killers as soon as I got home.
Good Luck and please get that checked out, best to be safe rather than sorry! All the best and let us know how you get on.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
