Hi, I am having surgery in 3 weeks time for VIN3 and just wondered how long it would be before going back to work? I had Aldara treatment for 3 months at the beginning of the year and mapping biopsies back in June which revealed VIN3 localised to one area. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

  • Hi Pinky,

I’ve a history of Vulval Cancer and had surgery last December for VIN2.

It was a breeze compared to the cancer surgeries and to be honest I can’t really remember exactly how long the recovery was BUT it was day case surgery and unfortunately I developed an infection, however 2 to 3 weeks afterwards I was fine and back to normal. At the time I was 69 and am now 70 so if you’re younger I would imagine a quicker recovery as I live with consequences of previous treatment.

Hopefully this will be of help to you.

  • Hi Pinky1,

I am sorry that Aldara did not help for those all VIN. I also have been using Aldara for 3 months now. Because I have had 5 surgeries for VIN2/3 and it comes back in a few months always. I usually go back to work in a couple of  days after surgery. My job is not an office work, so I do not have to sit on a chair, but physical job. Sitting on a chair feels more pain for me. I am 45 yrs. I hope it helps.

I hope your surgery is going well and have a fast recovery!

Thankyou, this is helpful to know. I've had so much time off work this year already and didn't know what to expect.

    Hi Kuma

Thank you for the reply. Aldara made me feel so I'll but I persevered and completed the course. Unfortunately the upper right quadrant came back VIN3 following mapping biopsies. My Gynae said they will do a local wide incision, so fingers crossed it zaps the little bugger. I do work in an office as a secretary so I'm hoping this doesn't hinder recovery time.
