Hello everyone!  First of all, I am sorry that you all have to be here.  Let me introduce myself.  My name is crystal and I am 37 years old.  I have a beautiful daughter that just turned five and certainly keeps life very interesting!  I was first told I was having a boy, but it turned out to be a girl who loves dragons, dinosaurs and horses!  Now, onto the devestating part...I was diagnosed with a Bartholins cancer 4/2018, I had a tumor removal, radiation to my lymph nodes and surgery cite, chemotherapy (cisplatin) and here I am a year later with a very scary f/u appointment.  Three weeks ago I got the flu and noticed that it was uncomfortable to walk.  I had quite a bit of swelling and immediately called the doctor, I went in for a quick check and they assumed it was Lymphedema related to the flu, however, today I went in for my three month check up and my oncologist said, “the cancer may have returned or this is new bone formation”. Certainly not what I was wanting to hear, but I have been having that all to familiar burning sensation and have been thinking something was not right.  I am only a few short months away from my nurse practitioner, so I only research scholar and peer reviewed articles involving the Bartholins cancer, but even those are terrifying. This is an extremely aggressive cancer and has a high reoccurance rate.  I’m reaching out to anyone who has any information on this cancer and if they had reoccurance.  Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Much love to all you ladies!

Crystal

Crystal, can I just say this to you:  you are awesome.  Your post is clear and calm.  It is obvious that although you are justifiably scared, you are STRONG.  I admire you already.

My own situation is that I was diagnosed with lichen sclerosus decades ago, which eventually became stage 1B vulva cancer.  I had a radical partial vulvectomy and bilateral lymphodectomy in November 2018.  I'm well now.

I hope someone else on this site of warriors has advice relevant to your situation.  Meanwhile I want you to know that you have a supporter in Canada.

Your cancer is gone but do you still have lichen sclerosus?
