Hello,

I'm 3 months post bilateral groin sentinel node dissection and have just come out in a rash from one wound,  spreading across abdomen and out to hip  up towards underarm -it was hot to touch, plus I had beenverg unwell the day previous.   I sent photographs in to my gynae Oncology team who advised an infection (for which I am now taking antibiotics).

They were unable to answer why an infection would happen now.  Any advice out there?   I have only recently upped my exercise regime, having been on a couple of cycle rides and longer walks...

Thank you for reading,

Jacqui

  • Could be because you had nodes removed and your lymphatic system which normally  fights infection without us knowing most of the time didn’t fight the infection and caused cellulitis?

could have lymphoedema caused from nodes removed or from surgery?

  • Definitely sounds like Cellulitis as Clare says below. What antibiotics and dose are you taking?

    Hi ClareB43 and LillaM,

    Flucloxacillin 500mg, x 4 per day for 1 week.

Would have thought if lymphoedema or cellulitis my specialist nurse team would have said ... glad to say the rash and pain is reducing.

    Thank you.
