Been for my biopsy results in preston today. I have been informed that there is a small amount of cancer. Im going to have yet another operation. 3rd one now. I hoping that they will finally remove it all and my body fights the vin3 cells.
I have questions running through my mind.
How quickly does vulva cancer spread?
Will this operation be my last?
Will i live to old age ?
True to say im a bit panicking, but the consultant says she do her best.
Hi Blondi, so sorry to hear of your results. What a bummer. I hope you don’t have to wait too long for your operation and that all the cancer will be gone. Sending love
Hi Blondi
I’m sorry to read your results have shown a small amount of cancer. I can understand the feeling of panic this will be giving you, especially after what you’ve already had to deal with.
None of us would be able to answer your questions as we are only patients ourselves, so these are best answered by your consultant.
Usually vulval cancer is a slow growing cancer, but things will depend on the specific type of vulval cancer, the type of cells which are there and how aggressive they are, and how deep the cancer goes into tissues. Your consultant should explain this to you, and what the operation will involve and likely outcome. Ask questions so you find out all of these details I’ve mentioned.
If there is only a small amount of cancer present, this should hopefully be a positive for you although I’m sure it will all feel very scary right now.
Not everyone wants to know about a prognosis or survival statistics-I specifically asked my consultant/surgeon not to tell me. If it’s something you want to know about you can ask, but bear in mind that even a surgeon is only giving a guesstimate based on statistics which are already out of date when they are published. I decided to think of myself as an individual, not a statistic, so I carry on my life not thinking about how long it might be but what I can do to live it as best I can.
