Hi, What are peoples side effects from one or both testicles being removed?
If one testicle is removed, does the remaining one get bigger?
Do people get a hard lump/swelling from the cord being cut, does that go away in time?
Is there any long term pain?
Does the plumbing still work?
Testosterone levels?
Any weight again?
Muscle loss?
Lack on energy?
Hi Chip5 and a very warm welcome to the online community
I can't help with your questions but noticed that you hadn't had any responses yet.
If you type 'orchiectomy' into the search bar in this group you'll find a number of older posts which you could have a look through. You could also post your questions in the ask a nurse section of the community.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi Chip5.
I had my left testicle removed last June, and other than the scar and knowing that the prosthetic is there, I wouldn't really say I had many side effects. After the initial recovery and healing period, my energy levels were fine, muscles were all fine, everything works as it should do, and I had no pain or swelling anywhere. My only possible issue, is I wonder if my testosterone levels are a bit low after I had chemo earlier this year, as I feel annoyed and angry all the time, and not quite myself, but that isn't related to the initial operation, so don't worry about that too much. Everybody is different, but my experience was fairly positive, and I hope yours is too. Hope it helps a little bit.
