Hello I’m new here I’m 21 years old and I’m very worried about a lump in my right testical it’s not very big and it’s been there for about two years and hasn’t grown I think and I’m worried if it is cancer it’s too late to get treatment as it may have spread to other areas because of how long it’s been I have a doctors appointment soon and I’m very anxious I’m hoping someone here can help me I’m so scared
Hello Audiowhy5dbf51 . I'm not from this group but noticed your post has slipped by without a reply . I am giving it a bump and hopefully the guys with experience will be along to help. It is always worrying when we find things we can't explain, but the good thing now is that you have a doctors appointment to investigate. I have had several examinations down there for other things and these examinations are done very delicately without any embarrassment. If the doctor thinks there is something needing further investigation, then the next step may be an ultrasound. Just to say again, good to know you are in the system and anything untoward will be treated. Best wishes.
Oh thank you so much that means a lot and thanks for your input
Hi,
hopefully your appointment is "soon", these things should be checked. There are other reasons for lumps, it is not always cancer, there could be cysts, benign lesions and so forth. But just to be on the safe side it needs to be checked because if it is something nasty, the earlier it is being dealt with, the better.
It is highly likely that your doctor will refer you in almost any case for an ultrasound. There is only so much that can be "felt" from the outside, even by a experienced doctor, and an ultrasound shows what's happening inside. Do go for it! To be honest I would even recommend to ask for it even if the doctor doesn't deem it necessary. For the simple reason that, even if there is no suspicion of cancer, an ultrasound would also show areas of calcification that might need monitoring in the future.
Ultrasound is such a quick and easy examination procedure, there is absolutely nothing to fear. It is not painful and not invasive. And an experienced sonographer can potentially already provide some preliminary comment on what they see during the examination. Some do... others tell you to wait for the report. But there is no harm in asking ;)
Ok I see thank you so much for your input my appointment is very soon so I haven’t got long to wait I’m very nervous and just want it checked now just hoping it isn’t too late if it is cancer it’s been about two years now
Hello Audio
The fact it's been there 2 years and you have not noticed that it has grown is a good sign, is the lump outside the testicle? If so another good sign. Like Patsy said ultrasound is a piece of cake. Even after 2 years it's still treatable. The doctor once told me if your going to get cancer this is the one to get. Look at Lance Armstrong and his story.
Keep us updated on your journey.
yes true, the lump is actually inside when I feel it it feels like it’s on the testical itself which also concerns me but oh that’s great news I was worried it would be too late and I never heard of of his story I will have to check it out
Millions of men suffer with little tiny cysts that feel like they are connected to the testicle but actually are not. Also there is no such thing as scrotum cancer.
It's always worrying when you find something you didn't know was there before. Then your anxiety will heighten the worry. Please remember don't keep playing with it or you will just irritate it and Google is not your friend right now. Just wait for your scan that's the only sure way of knowing anything.
Hi Audio
i agree with what the others have said. In particular the bit about “asking” for the ultrasound scan if the Doctor doesnt suggest it. It is a worrying time, hopefully you have people to share this with. It often helps to talk about it.
It is the definitive initial test/ scan and it’s possible would put your mind at ease quickly. Like many of us I had a number of them…. Sometimes the person would not comment during the scan. In some cases I had a more senior person (Doctor) who talked me through what was on the screen there and then.
As a comment on your timeline… From the point I noticed something was not right and started the whole Doctor / referral to Consultant process - my tumour( as I now know it was) grew quite quickly and changed in a matter of a few weeks until the surgery to remove it. It also became very “heavy” and firm too. Very different to the other one!
As the others have said … when you are seen by a Doctor and get yourself an ultrasound things will be much clearer for you.
Keep strong and let us know how you get on..
TC
I see ok, ok thank you I won’t and I will wait
Yes I’m going to ask the doctor for an ultrasound scan and thanks for sharing your story and input, thank you I will and I will definitely keep you all updated
