Hello all,
Recently, I had a dull ache in my left testicle and noticed it hung lower than it usually does. I thought nothing of it at first, but after a few days, I found that a lump had formed near the tail of the epididymis. I'm going into my local clinic tomorrow for a checkup, but I'm absolutely terrified that it could be cancer and I'm constantly overthinking it and worried that I could lose it at just 20 years old. I'm wondering if anybody could help me out or at least provide some info on the procedures taken, especially on the mental impact.
Hi
it is a worrying time. It sound like you are going to see a Doctor (well done) who can give you their view and if necessary start some further tests and investigations.
There are other things associated with our parts that the Doctor will consider too. ( not just tumour related)
As a guide and from my experience… it was Doctor, he asked for a scan which was an ultrasound. That happened in a few days. I then saw a Consultant who confirmed it was a sinister mass. He arranged surgery to remove it and send to the lab.. That’s the first part I hope,it gives you a bit of background. See your Doctor and come back and let us know how you get on.
Good luck, and talk about it with people, it helps!

Hi Chazzah, worth buzzing Mcmillan, although they can't talk specifics, they were fantastic and calming to talk to and we're really patient and kind. Everyday will feel very long during this time, wondering and waiting. Although this was my son that had all this going on, I found them very helpful. I wish I had spoken to them earlier. Although I am not a man, I was very much part of this journey. Don't ever hesitate to reach out to me. Pippa P.
Hello
First of all losing a testicle is not the end of the world and even if you did you can get it replaced with a silicone one, you will still be able to have children and enjoy life and normally the remaining testicle will take over, but before all that tests and scans need to be done to confirm what it is. In young men especially you can get an infection in the epididimus cord which is very common and causes aches, pains and swelling and it is caused by too much sperm being produced. Normally it will go away after a few days and ibuprofen really helps with the pain and swelling.
You said the lump feels like it's at the tail end of the epididimus which screams infection to me. A doctor once told me anything inside the testicle not good anything outside is usually good. I would hazardous a guess that it's painful to touch? My tumour grew from inside the testicle and was rock solid and it came up higher rather than hung lower. Your paranoia will play games with you now and make you think the worse so my advice do not Google anything, don't play with it as you will irritate it. Ensure you go to your appointment and see what they say. Also wear good fitting boxers or pants as this helps support the testicles and helps reduce the pain.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
