hello my name is abe i was diagnosed with testicular cancer stage 2 in the abdomen lymph nodes and i just finished chemo 4 rounds of BEP and now awaiting a ct scan for oct 18. Only thing that concerns me is that I developed a dry cough ever since sept 10. it goes away but then comes suddenly. I am worried too because my oncologist was talking about my first ct scan before chemo was showing some scar tissue in the lungs but he said it could’ve been from an accident i had in the past. Could this scar tissue be linked to some new disease or testicular cancer spread to the lungs? I wont know until after the ct scan but im so worried and scared it could be serious . My tumor markers did drop to normal after chemo and i am recovering well and also he said my blood counts are real good. Why have I developed a dry cough that really hasn’t gone away completely though? Its usually in the mornings when i wake up when i cough suddenly and also the weather changes drastically here in Chicago, il. Plz help!! What could this be? I made another appointment for this monday to ask him to explain again. Can anyone plz help me figure this out? What questions should i ask him? Any help appreciated thanks.
Last year I had a 3 month cough while on active surveillance. My chest x-rays and ct-scans were clear. Early this year I had a one month cough that went away shortly before a ct-scan revealed the testicular cancer had spread to abdominal lymph nodes so I went on 3XBEP. When I knew I needed chemo I got an expensive Dyson air purifier as possible extra help in case I would have problems with the Bleomycin or just to hopefully avoid another cough that I didn't want to deal with along with the usual chemo side-effects. I have hardly coughed or even cleared my throat at home since then. So maybe ask the doctor if an air prifier could help. Or buy one anyway as we are in the mostly indoor seasons now and it should make your home more breathable. That;s one angle on it but of course ct-scan and chest x-ray would tell more. You mentioned a ct-scan but not a chest x-ray.
Hello Abe, did your cough clear up? My husband over the last week seems to have developed a dry cough, worse at night, but last night for first time through the night. I am now worrying about Bleomycin causing this even though xrays so far have been clear. He has 1 Bleo left and then will have completed 3 xBEP.
thanks
Yes eventually it did clear up. He will be fine just give him time to heal after the bleo.. it’s normal i thought it wasn’t but eventually I didn’t have a cough anymore..
Brill, that puts my mind at ease, thanks so much for taking the time to reply
