Hi. My sister has advanced Leiomyosarcoma and has been offered Gemcitabine and dacarbazine combined but also has been recommended a high dose of cannabis oil, has anyone had both together?? Thoughts and opinions much appreciated.

  • My wife also has Leiomyosarcoma, hers of gynaecological origin. Her first line chemo was Doxyrubicin but had some unfortunate side effects so was then tried on Gemcatabine as a single agent as they thought it might be gentler on her lungs and it seemed to work, she has achieved stable cancer now for about 6 years.

Was it the oncology team who recommended the cannabis oil? Given it's recent change in legal status I wonder if there is much information on if there could be any interaction. The latest information I am aware of is here.

Janice found she had a much easier time on the Gemcatabine that before, though having the needles inserted started to get to her, if she needs chemo again in the future we will definitely look a getting a PICC line fitted.

I’ve been taking CBD oil since starting chemotherapy in June.

I have told my oncologists of this fact and although they don’t say not to, they don’t give it any credit.

I’m their star patient. I started out as inoperable, with 2 tumours that often doesn’t respond to chemotherapy. My bloods have never faltered, I’ve had absolutely no nausea and after 5 months of chemo I’ll be operated on in December. I plan to take it throughout my 6 weeks of radiation next year as well.

But this is breast cancer chemotherapy. They are all so different, I cannot speak for the others. I wish you well on your warpath.

The cancercare nurses are much more forthcoming and all agree that any patient who takes ‘the oil’ has an easier journey - the nurses are the only ones present during the actual administering of the drugs.

Hi, I'm due to start chemo in a few days and was also interested in trying CBD as I've used it successfully for a long time for other conditions.

Did you take it  before and during chemo? I can't find any information anywhere on safety, thanks Daniela

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. Chemo is soon and I was advised recently to try marijuanabreak cbd oils. It's said they help to relieve pain successfully. I still hesitate but maybe nothing to worry about.
