I have been experience pain and tenderness in the back of my thigh for about 4 years which gradually has gotten worse. I have been seeing the osteopath for adjustments and had an appoint with MSK but they all thought it was muscle.
Recently started noticing lump and hotness so I got my osteopath to refer me to my GP as she knew my condition more. A month later I saw a physiotherapist who immediately got me referred to Soft Tissue Sarcoma pathway. Within the weeke I had X-Ray and Ultrasound. They identified a lump but unsure what it is, I overheard the junior Dr say it looks “calcified” and there was some “shadowing”. They told me I will follow the 2ww cancer pathway for now and I will have MRI and biopsy done.
I’m a biomedical scientist working in pathology so I have some medical knowledge which makes me more anxious.
i’m 34 years old and generally fit and well, I play badminton and enjoy pilates. I’ve never really had health issues or had hospital appointments.
Hi villae03
Lumps and bumps are very common and sarcoma's rare, however it is important to check for sarcoma and it sounds like that is the path you are on, hopefully one that will give you a benign outcome where you know what this lump is.
We have a page all about diagnosing soft tissue sarcoma - some of these of course take time but worthwhile keeping check on when you should expect results.
