I was diagnosed with a GIST after a stomach bleed last year. I have since had a partial gastrectomy and the tumour was found to be a gastric glomus tumour and not a GIST. I have been told that I am at high risk of the tumour returning and will have regular scans and scopes. There is very little information on GGT and I'm wondering if anyone else has been diagnosed with this type of cancer.
Hi Fiona2000
Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.
I am Steve, one of the community champions, my experience of cancer is via my wife who has Leiomyosarcoma.
I did notice your post earlier and tried a search on the community but did not really come up with anything that looked directly relevant to that particular type of tumour, it can be an issue with some here when we are dealing with things that are rare.
My wife's cancer is stable and so after treatment she had regular scans after treatment, as things have gone on they got more and more spaced out so now she only gets seen once a year.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Thank you for your reply. That's good news that your wife's cancer is stable.
I suppose with my type of cancer being so rare that it is difficult to find someone that has also been diagnosed.
There is very little information out there about GGT and I have been given very little information by my consultant as it is not within his remit.
I am hopeful that my ongoing care will also be more spaced out and that the cancer will not return.
