Is my lump Sarcoma?

I Found a hard lump in my left thigh around Christmas time. Went to the GP in Feb and she said probably nothing to worry about but referred for an ultrasound scan.
Had the scan this week and they sent me straight for an MRI as it was a definite mass around 3cm in my thigh muscle.
The report came back and GP called. Report said the mass seems to have its own blood supply and is of concern and a biopsy is recommended. I have my biopsy next week.
I’m 38, fit and healthy play semi- professional sport and have two small children. I did the worst thing and Googled and what came up has made me think I have a Sarcoma.
Just looking for support during this difficult time. Anyone out there with some positive outcomes would really help or just any support at all. Everytime I look at my children I just cry! Last week, everything was ok and now I don’t know what the future holds.

Thank you xx

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply, appreciate it.

My lump is on my forearm, had an ultrasound and he said he didn’t know what it was neither completely normal or abnormal?! So I’m a bit stumped he said to wait 8weeks and have another ultrasound. It started off tender and area around it swollen now swelling reduced and im left with a small lump doesn’t seem to move and doesn’t seem tender to touch now?! Very odd. Trying hard not to overthink it all.

  • Definitely do not overthink.

The doctor appears to be doing a proper job.

My doctors left me nine months saying I had a cyst.

Fortunately I eventually had a diagnosis of Sarcoma which has been removed successfully

Nearly two years have passed I’m all clear .

    Keep the faith

  • Hi I'm new here and in a similar situation. I have had cancer before but not the type I'm getting checked for now. I found a lump in my right arm and have my first ultrasound scan on Tuesday and I just don't have gd feeling about it all it all feels like before so my mind has been racing. It seems to be the thing I have struggled with the most is stopping my mind from thinking the worst so if you can don't Google anything yet and try to keep your mind occupied when you find yourself thinking about it all. I'm wishing you the best of news x

  • I had a scan on Friday for a suspicious lump on my wrist which appeared a fortnight ago my previous cancer was in the same arm . I now await the result with the confidence that what ever the outcome I will receive the best treatment.

I do google Sarcoma UK and MacMillan nothing else

  • Hi roadrunner I had stadge 1b1 cervical cancer last time but knew there was something wrong right away with the look on the nurses face she just cudnt hide what she seen and this time the doctor was similar she said she hadn't seen anything like it before. It's a small pee size lump deep in the muscle of my upper arm. Now I'm scared I have it again and I know the worst bit to start is the waiting. I just don't know what to expect from tests this time and hate being a pin cushion but also I don't want to tell anyone yet till I know what it is. Sorry for the long rant I don't have anyone I can talk to really beside my husband and he just looks scared when I try to talk about it. Does anyone know what to expect in the ultrasound like will they do a biopsies then to ? And how do they do it?

  • Hi Highlander

I not sure what they do in respect of biopsy my surgeon tried to remove the tumour under a local anaesthetic which is definitely not what should have been done. Your doctor seems to me to be doing things correctly with necessary caution.

i was eventually operated on properly under full anaesthetic after full PT scan by a Sarcoma team in Liverpool

Sarcoma is extremely rare that’s probably why I the three doctors I had didn’t know what it was. Your team seem to be doing it correctly.

  • Wow can't imagine having to get that done you brave. I just wish I knew what it was and can sort it soon as I hate the waiting it's driving me mad I just can't stop thinking about it or playing with the wee bit in my arm lol

  • Hi Highlands,

I was diagnosed with incurable sarcoma after having a biopsy on 2 lumps on my foot. It was a shock to say the least to find out I had cancer, everybody's nightmare. I had radiotherapy and now awaiting scans in December. Nobody wants this outcome, but joining this group gives you so much support, and I have met some wonderful people who I am proud to call my friends. Waiting for results is always daunting, but we are all.here for you, even though it's not a journey we decided to go on, you're not on your own xxx

  • Thank you so much you have no idea how much I appreciate that DDchops. It's defo the waiting I just have so many questions for the docs last time I froze and didn't know what to do or what to ask this time I don't want to be a deer in head lights lol I want all the info I can from them so I know what to do I just don't know what to ask them lol

  • I got into keeping occupied with mindfulness living in the moment very difficult at the start very beneficial with plenty of practitioners to look at to choose which one is suitable to you.

What ever is going on is in its infancy
