My apologies but your discussion of your concerns following your surgical results was locked.

I thought it might be of value to you to continue in this new discussion if you wish.

I do think it may be helpful to you to get the exact wording of your post surgical pathology report.

I find the word "breached" a rather emotive word. not very reassuring  and wonder if this word actally appears in the report at all.

My own expereince of receiving my report, I heve a copy of it, I also found worrying.

My report mentioned two main things, the  location of cancer cells in relation to the edges of the prostate capsule and an updated Gleason score.  The edges are usually referred to as "margins".

In my case it stated that cells were seen so close to the margin that total excision could not be guaranteed.  Which was neither one way or the other.  "Negative" margins is what I'd hoped  for, like you, as this means  the cancer had not extended beyond the prostate capsule.

You cannot know, except from the surgeons operation notes, if the surgeon actually saw any spread beyond the prostate capsule. If the this was only detected under a microscope, then you could say the spread was microscopic.

I hope you find this reassuring.

Furthermore I have found this interesting article from a renowned American health organisation which you may find of further reassurance.  It also applies to me!

Further treatment was mentioned to me, but never actually offered.  My PSA results didn't suggest I needed any at that  time.

Thank you for the comments knowledge is good to have

At my post opp meeting with the surgeon his description was that the capsule had been breached and recommended that i go for radiotherapy  ,i found this a bit daunting and have rearranged a meeting to discuss further like you say the report might not give all the answers but some are better than not knowing

Thanks for the input and knowledge find it  most helpful when all this is new to me

I agree it is daunting, I thin your main concern was that it was so soon after your surgery and I wouildn;t want you to feel that there was too much urgency.

    Uroboros

See My GP and explained my feelings ect ,she confirmed that the post opp path report G3+4 revealed an upstaging from T2 to PT3a R1 with a positive margin of 1.4mm at the apex ,so going to hang in for next PSA test then plan next move for neoadjuvant vs salvage radiotherapy

    Regards
