Radiotherapy treatment difficulties

My husband is currently having radiotherapy and having difficulties with gas 5 out of 7 treatments to date.  He is adhering strictly to dietary advice and following all instructions, taking windeze but still having this problem, which is causing him some concern and delaying his treatment.  We spoke to another patient who had the same problem and he has advised to use an anal douche instead of the prescribed enemas because this has helped him to alleviate gas.  Has anyone here used these and are they safe to use?

  • Hello Again

Another welcome to the Prostate group.

I appreciate you have received advice from another patient - and as this is medical advice - I would be speaking to the Radiotherapy team before you change anything about the enemas. Don't forget the Radiotherapy team have seen this before - what knowledge has "this other patient"?

  • Hi  I agree with Brian, his team can probably help but make sure you check with them.  Just a thought, something must be causing the gas, could it be the Windeze itself?  Was this suggested by his team?

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • Yes radiographer suggested windeze

  • Will ask at review on Monday.  Thank you.
